He had always been there, but now that I’ve seen him, I can’t look away.

I had been rejected by two women - two women who eventually realized they were in love with each other. Truthfully, it wasn’t unexpected, but that didn’t make it any less painful. I decided to drink myself into a stupor and move on.

Then Richard showed up.

We worked in the same office, and I had seen him hundreds of times, but we’d never gone beyond ‘hello.’ So why was it so hard to forget him? Why couldn’t I leave him alone?
