“Miscarriages are a part of life. It doesn’t make them hurt any less, trust me I know because we all went through one. It doesn’t mean you aren’t deserving or that you are being punished.” He stroked my hair then took my hand.
“You are strong, Katerina. Probably the strongest woman I know, and you will survive this and be even stronger. I can’tpromise you that Riley and Hamish are okay, but you have two other men who love you. You have to be strong for them.” He said firmly and I nodded, realizing that Leo and Alexsei hadn’t even known.
Mikhail got up and tugged me to my feet.
“I’m going to undress you now and get you cleaned up, okay? I promise you on Rosslyn’s life, I won’t look or touch any part of you that you don’t want.” He said with a smile, and I laughed, unable to stop myself as he held his hand to his heart.
“You don’t have to. I can take care of myself.” I said and he nodded.
“I know. But in my experience, being looked after in these moments makes all the difference.” He said before he gestured to the shower.
I slowly peeled the rest of my clothes off, climbing into the shower as Mikhail handed me the soap.
He was right. I couldn’t let myself mourn right now. I had to get out of this in one piece and find Leo and then get Alexsei out.
I had to get rid of Konstantin and Egor.
“Turn around. I’ll do your back.” Mikhail said, his clothes soaked through as he reached into the shower to take the cloth from my hand.
I made quick work of cleaning myself with his help.
“I’ll be right back, okay?” He said as he left the towel on the side of the shower glass for me.
When he came back into the room, he handed me some pads.
“Where did you get those?” I asked.
“The women’s toilet. They have one of those vending machine things with condoms, tampons, and pads.” He said with a shrug, and I felt my lower lip tremble as I took them.
“Thank you,” I whispered and he smiled.
“I’m doing what I promised. Taking care of their woman for them. If Rosslyn was in this situation, I would hope that whoeverwas with her would do the same.” He said softly and I hugged him.
“I don’t have any spare clothes here, unfortunately.” He added and I sighed.
“That’s fine. We won’t be here long. I have people to kill.” I said with conviction.
I pushed all the emotions into a box in my brain, locking them away, and channeled them into my rage instead.
I would mourn when everyone who wronged me was dead.
Fifty seven

“Move out! We have the location.” One of the men shouted and I grit my teeth.
Konstantin had put his own men in charge, and I was struggling to keep one step ahead of everyone.
I climbed into the van, counting how many men were there.
Two of my own and five of Konstantin’s.
The warehouse had been a fucking disaster that I barely managed to salvage and if it wasn’t for me insisting, I wouldn’t have been in this van now.
They had Katerina’s and Mikhail’s location and I barely had a chance to get a message to the Maddens to try and warn them before we were on our way.
The van came to a stop out the front of an old motel and my stomach sank.
