“Okay. Then humor me. I need saving. If I have to spend another hour listening to my mother talk, I will go insane.” I said and she glanced over her shoulder.

“Your mother? You live with your mother?” She shook her head with a smile.

“No. I just have her with me temporarily after she was discharged from a mental hospital so I can keep an eye on her.” I said and she stopped.

“What?” She said and I winced.

“She was a little depressed. Got herself addicted to painkillers and lost it for a while. I am her primary caregiver now she isout. The donuts were for her. You owe me.” I added and she hesitated.

“Fine. But only because I am tired of this back-and-forth fighting and this is a peace offering. I have other things to take care of.” She said and I smiled.

“Deal. Where are we going?” I asked as I sat on her bed, watching her disappear into the closet.

“To an underground fight club.”

Twenty

Katerina

Ilooked at Hamish for the fifth time tonight as we walked to the entrance.

He showed up like a sex starved puppy on my doorstep and as much as I wanted to tell him to fuck off, I kind of found him amusing.

Plus, I wanted to understand why he was so invested in my life and who he was. He still hadn’t told me how he was aware that I was the head of the Bratva.

“So is this a usual occurrence for you? Do you own the place?” Hamish asked as we walked through the doors.

“No and no. I’m here to support Leo. This is his thing. He is fighting tonight.” I said as I glanced at my phone to see a text from Riley saying he would be a little late.

“Right. One of your boyfriends.” He said with a grin and I gave him the side eye.

“No. Well… I don’t know.” I muttered as I made my way through the crowd.

“Uh-huh. That man staked a claim on you the day I shook his hand.” Hamish said with a laugh.

As we approached the ring and the private seats, I recognized one of the security officers as one who had been hired from time to time for private events.

His eyes widened when he saw me, glancing at Hamish and then looking around as if he expected a bunch of men with guns to be following me.

“Katerina. I didn’t know you had business here…” He said warily with another glance at Hamish who smiled, hands in his pocket.

“I don’t. I’m here on personal business. I know Leo.” I added and his brow wrinkled before he nodded.

“Ah. He did say there were some seats put aside for you. Two right near the front.” He said, gesturing to nosebleed seats.

“We have an interloper. I need three.” I said with a pointed stare at Hamish.

“Ahhh… I don’t think I can move anyone. The men who are next to you are… well. They are the owners.” He said and Hamish wrapped an arm around me.

“No matter. You can sit on my lap, Love.” He said with that annoying grin and I glared at him.

“It’s fine. Riley is running late anyway. We’ll figure it out. Thanks…Craig.” I said, hoping I got his name right. He grinned and I made a mental note to add him to my approved list and possibly look at scouting him for my own men.

We sat down in the empty seats and I overheard a few of the people talking about the stats between Leo and the man he was fighting.

Apparently Leo was the crowd favorite.

“So. Are we going to talk about when you and I should have sex?” Hamish said as we sat down and I stared at him.
