“I wasn’t saying sorry for kissing you. I was saying sorry because I lost myself for a minute. I started to go too far.”
“Who said it was too far?”
He tilted his head to the side and assessed me. “You didn’t mind my hand around your throat?”
“Um, were you trying to kill me?”
His cheek twitched. “No.”
“Then no, I didn’t mind it. Honestly, I wanted more.”
Dark brows shot up. “You wanted me to choke you harder? Pin you to the wall? Take what I wanted.” I rubbed my thighs together. Swallowing hard, I bit my lip and nodded. Asher’s eyes flared and his hands dropped back down to my ass as he flexed his hips into mine. “Fuck. We have to stop.”
“Why?” My brain was in an Asher-induced-fog. I didn’t want to stop. I wanted to get lost in him.
“Because my daughter is in the next room.”
That made me jump back, jaw dropped. “Shit. Do you think she is okay?”
Asher’s shoulder shook. “She’s fine. But I’d rather not scar her for life, yeah?”
“No. Let’s not.” I agreed, my heart still beating rapidly. Even being a few feet apart, it felt like his hands were still on me just by the way his eyes devoured my body.
“Let’s finish up here, because Hales? When we get home? I’m not holding back.” He promised.
“I thought sex was off the table.”
He shot me the cocky crooked grin I’d always loved. “It is, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to keep my hands off you. Or my mouth.”

“Areyou going to stay with us?” Nix bounced up and down in the living room as we finished eating. The hopeful smile on her face made my heart sing.
“I am.” I laughed when she did a fist pump in the air.
“Can you sleep in my room?” She placed her little hands together in a praying motion under her chin.
Asher shook his head, looking right at me. His eyes full of promise. “She’s staying in my room.” My nerves fired along my body like crazy.
Nix pouted for a second before lighting up again. The girl was one big whiplash of emotions. “Does that mean your dating my dad?”
Asher rubbed a hand up and down my back letting me take the lead. “Um. Yeah. Is that okay, sweetie?” I asked because her opinion mattered more than anyone else’s.
She tilted her head to the side. “Yeah, but you should stay in my room because I have the better toys.”
“I’m not sure about that.” Asher mumbled under his breathe and I coughed because what did that mean? What toys did he have?
“I think she would fit better in my big bed instead of your princess bed. Her feet might get cold hanging off the edge.”
“That’s true. You are a giant,” Nix said seriously.
“How about I read you a story?’ I suggested.
She pursed her lips together and held up two fingers. “Two.”
“Why don’t you go get changed into your jammies and pick them out. We’ll be right up,” Asher said reaching past me to close the pizza box. “It’s way past your bedtime, anyway.”
“I only want Haley,” Nix said, arms crossed. So sassy for such a little person.
