His eyes darkened to nearly black. “Mouth it is. Open your legs.”

“Asher,” I moaned as his hands slipped between my thighs and pushed them apart.

“Beautiful,” he whispered moving his nose along the inside of my thigh before placing a kiss there as I melted further into the mattress.

“Haley?” He stared up at me and seeing him there, between my thighs almost did me in. His expression full of desire.

“Y-yes?” I stuttered as his warm breath moved over my heated flesh. I was so fucking wet and turned on I couldn’t think straight.

“If you ever need to get off let me know. That’s my job,” he said right before devouring me.

A car horn pulled me back to the present, my chest on fire. After he made me come twice, he placed a kiss on my lips and promised to wake me up like that every day, but I really hoped we moved past the light hanky panky to the actual banging. I didn’t know how much more I wanted to wait.

Or if I even could wait before I ripped his clothes off.

Taking a deep breath, I grabbed the bag of Chinese food and stepped out of the car. Walking into the high school was like stepping back into a time machine. Literally nothing had changed except for the fact I didn’t have a locker and I could actually kiss the hot history teacher if I wanted.

Which I wanted.

Maybe I’d just shut the door and kiss him like Lorelai kissed Max. Luckily for me, I didn’t have a teenage daughter to embarrass. I should probably start thinking of him as my Luke instead of Max though, because those two were meant to be.

I wandered down the history hallway until I found a door with Asher’s name beside it. Running my fingers over the cool metal, my heart beat a little faster until I heard a laugh.

A decidedly female, husky, I-want-to-sleep-with you, laugh.

My throat tightened and my eyes narrowed as I poked my head inside the door without knocking. A girl in a tight blue pencil skirt and white blouse sat on Asher’s desk talking animatedly. He smiled at what she said while her claw-like pointy fingernail tapped on his forearm. He didn’t pull away. Her dark hair fell in big curls down her back and I kinda wanted to rip the fake extensions right off her little head.

She turned to the side just enough that I saw her profile.

Stella.

Fucking substitute teacher Stella that Asher was supposed to show around earlier this week.

A small crack formed in my chest as I watched them. Part of me wanted to turn, tuck my tail between my legs and go home.

Because what were the fucking chances, she would be the one in here with him?

Why couldn’t it have been grumpy, old Ms. Warbler who ran the library?

But I wouldn’t run. I had already done that once because of her and I refused do it again.

Asher and I were dating damnit.

No.

It was more than that.Wewere more than that.

Rolling my shoulders back, I smoothed down my pink sundress with one hand and walked the rest of the way into the room, clearing my throat. Asher’s gaze shot to mine, his eyes softened, as his lips curled up into the smile I realized he saved solely for me.

“Hales. What are you doing here?” He stood and walked around Stella who fired daggers in my directions with her eyes. Her mouth puckered like she had just eaten a handful of warheads.

Clearly, she wasn’t as happy to see me as Asher, but I smiled at her anyway. Stella was Nix’s family, and I wouldn’t mess with that relationship no matter how much of a snake I was starting to think Stella was.

Asher wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me close, his lips brushing against my forehead, and I instantly relaxed into him, sighing. How did he always have that effect on me?

“You look beautiful,” he murmured in my ear before pulling back, his hand clasping mine.

“I wanted to bring you lunch. I knew you had a free period.”
