I don’t care and glare at him, then at Siccario. “Did what work?”

“Adam owed me a favor. I called it in.” The two men shake hands, while I’m about to shake someone until his teeth rattles if they don’t tell me what the fuck is going on.

The billionaire continues to explain as he turns his attention to Iris, which causes me to hold her closer. “Sorry for the act, Miss Siccario. I don’t live in a swamp and I definitely don’t raise alligators. I’ve wrestled them a few times.” He grins. “The only truth to my introduction is that my last name really is Driver.”

Iris turns to her great uncle. “Why would you lead me to believe I had to marry a man like this?”

“Hey, now,” Driver protests. I glare at him, and he falls silent.

Siccario explains. “How else could I get you to realize your love for Kristo, if you weren’t faced with a future without him?”

Iris’s narrows her eyes at him. “You know…that sounds an awful lot like something from a cheesy movie.”

Siccario’s grin widens. “I may have lifted the idea from a movie you forced me to watch a time or two. But if you are happy, well—anything. I’d do anything for you, sweet Iris.”

Dem snaps his fingers in front of my face and motions for me to join him away from Iris and her great uncle, both now chatting wildly about the movie he stole the idea from. I glance over at Adam Driver, who nods once as he slips out of the room. I nod in return.

“Well cousin, I do believe all’s well that ends well, eh?”

I’m more than mildly irritated Dem knew as much as he did about the outcome of tonight and said nothing. I won’t let him forget this any time soon. “I plan to repay you for this, cousin.”

He loses his smile and looks at me. “That doesn’t sound pleasant.”

“It won’t be, I promise you.”
