“You have the guy, don’t you?” Eve asked.
“Yes.”
“You told that officer he got away.”
“I know.”
She pulled back and looked into his eyes. “What are you going to do?”
“Whatever I have to do. I know who’s demanding these kids, who’s making these orders.”
“Orders?” Eve asked.
“Think of it as a shopping list. There are men willing to pay a lot of money for this kind of stuff.”
She shook her head. “That is sick.”
“It happens all the time. Some people don’t limit themselves to men and women, they want children.” He cupped her face, forcing her to look at him. “I am going to take care of this. I promise.”
“I know and I … I don’t want you to let that animal go,” Eve said.
“He’s not going anywhere, Eve. The moment I caught him, his life was all but over.”
Eve pressed her lips together.
“What’s the matter?” he asked.
He saw her struggling. He didn’t like this. The picnic today was supposed to be fun, romantic, and help Eve continue falling in love with him again.
Grim was pissed that it had been spoiled by fucking scum, and he was going to delight in hurting that bastard for ruining his plans. Also, for attempting to kidnap young children.
There was a lot of shit he was going to do to that asshole, and he was going to delight in every single thing.
“I … I want you to hurt him. I want you to make him scream and beg and wish he had never stepped foot in that park today,” she said.
“Consider it done.”
She let out a whimper.
He gripped the back of her neck and held her tightly against him. “I’ve got you, Eve. I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you.”
“What kind of a person does it make me to want him to die?” she asked. “I’m a horrible person.”
“You’re not horrible, baby. I promise you, and trust me, men like that, if there was a price for you, he would have done the same to you. There is no reasoning with these bastards. Trust me, and let me take care of it.”
Eve nodded and rested her head against his chest. “I don’t want anything bad to happen to you,” she said.
“Nothing will.” He pulled her back and then stared into her eyes. “I love you, Eve. I love you more than anything and it’s why I’m going to take care of this. I have men guarding the house. Don’t leave.”
She nodded, and he pulled her in to kiss his lips. “I love you.”
He smiled.
Leaving her was not what he wanted to do, but he had to handle this. On the way out, he spoke to his guard, letting him know that if anything happened to his woman, he would hold him responsible and deal with him accordingly.
Grim couldn’t allow this to go on any longer. His focus had been on saving his marriage, on winning Eve back, and in doing so, he allowed Anthony Thistle to keep breathing.
The journey to his warehouse was a quick one. He wasn’t interested in prolonging the anticipation. He wanted answers and he wanted them fast. At the park, he had already punched the man three times, and he had a bloody nose.
