The woman left nothing out.
Hell, I knew what Claudia ate for dinner last week. Her favorite television shows, even what kind of shampoo she preferred. I learned everything but what I needed to know.
“And then she rearranged her entire schedule to accommodate those assholes. Now they’re saying it’s not good enough. Frank,” Bailey said, snapping her fingers in front of my face. “Are you even listening to me? We have to help her.”
“I heard every word you said, Bailey. Every... single... word.”
“Then what are you going to do?”
“Here, Frank,” the sweet and very shy Daphne Ingalls, Ink’s wife said when she handed me a glass of Dr Pepper.
I liked Daphne.
Every time I was around, she always smiled at me.
Reaching for the glass, Cameron along with Colin, Player and Catarina’s son, came running in the back door, bumping into Daphne, spilling Dr Pepper down the front of my shirt.
“Oh my God,” Daphne gasped as Skylar grabbed her brother. “What did I say about running in the clubhouse? Look what just happened.”
“It’s no big deal, Sky. Little man didn’t see me sitting here.”
Bailey huffed. “Frank, all of Canada can see you. You don’t necessarily blend in.”
Cameron looked down at his scuffed shoes and muttered, “Sorry, Frank.”
“Me too. Sorry, Frank,” Colin quickly added.
“Both of you, out,” Catarina ordered, and both boys skedaddled. “You’d think with several acres to run around in, they’d at least find something to do.”
“I can take them fishing if you want?” I offered eagerly, anything to get me out of this room faster, only for Bailey to snark, “No, you can’t. You are helping me with Claudia, remember?”
Sighing, I nodded.
“Good, let’s go.”
“But we’ve got to stop off at the distillery first.”
“Why?”
“I need to check on my experiments.”
“How long is that going to take?”
“A few hours.”
“Fine.”
“But first I need to shower and change my clothes.”
“Why do you need to do that?”
“Dr Pepper is sticky.”
Duh. Everyone knew that.
Bailey groaned as her head hit the table.
Looking at the clock, I sighed.
