When Sage returns with a washcloth, I sit up and reach for her face. Our kiss is sweet yet demanding. The salt of Griffin’s release mixes with the sweetness of Sage. Her fingers come up to run through my hair, and I lean into the kiss. She holds me to her as our lips caress each other. Her mouth parts slightly, and I demand entry. Our connection grows hotter, almost frantic, until I pull away from her reluctantly.
Moving past her to the bathroom, I find myself staring directly into the large mirror. My reflection isn’t one I entirely recognize. My features are the same, but something’s changed. The look that’s haunted me is gone. Lessened by reconnecting with Jay. Erased by this moment with Sage and Griffin.
I take off the harness and take care of the rest of my needs. When I finish, I step back into the bedroom and pause.
There on the bed lie Sage and Griffin, both on their sides. Sage is running her fingers through his hair, and the simplicity of the moment moves me. Something akin to love blooms in my chest.
I walk over to the bed and settle in behind Griffin.
I know this is a gift they’ve given me, and my heart clenches at the thoughtfulness.
I pull myself closer to Griffin and inhale his lemon and clove scent. My hands wander aimlessly up and down his side until he reaches for me, and we intertwine our fingers. My hand is securely in his, and my arm is draped tightly around his chest. Sage is at his front with her hand resting on my hip.
This is how we fall asleep.
