Kru snorted, and Lucia wanted to stab him and his stupid smile he was failing to hide.

Lucas had been on the phone, probably trying to call Gunner, but he muttered a curse and hung up the phone. “Does anyone remember if Gunner had his phone with him last night?”

“Nope. Honestly, I was shocked he even wanted to come out to Lucia’s bar with us. He’s been a pill lately.”

“Like Lucia,” Kru said with a plastered smile. “Who threw a breakfast sandwich at me the other day.”

“Better than an axe,” Lucia pointed out.

“Aren’t you late for your hoof trim, demon—”

“Enough,” Lucas drawled out. “Kru and I will go into town and look for Gunner after the meeting. He may have Changed in the woods behind the bar and he’s just sleeping it off. Still, I don’t like him that close to the human population.”

“Gunner’s fine,” Lucia muttered. “He probably just needs space. Some people actually need that, you know.”

“Okay,” Lucas gritted out. “Since you aren’t around much, you probably aren’t aware of what we’ve been dealing with. Gunner’s Changes are happening all the time, and when he’s the bear, he has no control. Kong had to pull him off his logging crew until he can gain control of the animal after what he did to Kru. And twice last week, we got a call from Damon to go get Gunner from town. If we give him space, there’s absolutely no control of his animal. We are currently the only line of defense between him and the rest of the world.”

“Oh,” Lucia murmured. “I didn’t know.”

“You could stay here more. We like when you are around,” Jenna said, and at first, Lucia wanted to prickle because she didn’t like to be bossed around, but one look at Jenna’s face and she swallowed down her defensive insults. Jenna was being genuine.

“Want to tell them what you told me?” Lucas asked as he connected a call again.

“Not particularly,” Lucia deadpanned. “You’re the goddamn Alpha and all. You can tell them.”

Lucas made a strangling motion with his free hand and then said, “Lucia has asked that we all move our valuables out of our trailers.”

“Why? Are we being robbed?” Cadence asked.

“I’m guessing it’s something worse, because she’s trapping the mice.”

“Wait, wait, wait, what’s going on?” Jenna asked, sitting on the edge of her chair.

Lucia’s sigh turned into a growl as she contemplated how to say the least amount of words that would successfully get her out of this annoying conversation. “I had a vision.”

“Are we at war?” Cadence asked.

“Dammit,” Lucas growled as he hung up the phone. “Gunner has to change his voicemail greeting. It’s pissing me off.”

Kru snorted, and lowered his voice in imitation. “Hey, this is Gunner. If I’m not answering the phone, it’s because I don’t give a fuck what you have to say. If this is Lucas calling, eat a gross dick. Dickbag. Beeeeeep.”

A laugh escaped Lucia before she could stop it, and when she looked over at Cadence, she was giggling quietly too. Perhaps Lucia wasn’t the worst member of the Warlanders after all.

“Why don’t you just track his phone like you tracked mine, stalkers?” Lucia asked.

“We tried,” Jenna said, relaxing back into her chair. “He deleted the app. Are our homes in danger?”

Lucia shrugged. “According to my vision, yes, but maybe my vision is wrong.”

“Beaston’s visions are never wrong,” Lucas pointed out.

“Cool. I’m not my dad.” There was a growl in her voice, and Lucia reveled in it. She’d missed the bear so much.

“What did you see?” Cadence asked softly.

“Everything is burning.”

Silence descended over the trailer park.
