“Might as well be,” she groaned as we climbed out.

I had a quick conversation with the woman behind the desk and gave her a nice tip for her cooperation. Bella was still sulking when we stepped on the elevator with Morgan, sliding the card into the slot and pushing the door open. “This is luxury living right here.”

Bella rolled her eyes and walked inside. After quickly surveying the room, she spun around with a raised brow, “Why can’t I go to your place?”

“My place is off limits,” I maintained.

“Off limits, period, or just to me?”

“My lady is at my spot, so yeah, it’s off-limits.”

“Your lady?” Bella pressed her lips together in anger. “Since when?”

“That’s none of your business.

Bella blinked a few times, like she was mentally trying to figure out who had taken her spot before walking towards the bed.

“Then I guess you need to be getting home.”

“Are you straight? Do you need anything else tonight?” I asked.

“Nope. I’m fine.”

Bella’s back was toward us, so she didn’t catch Morgan shaking his head, disappointed in me.

“I’ll hit you in the morning.”

“Don’t bother. I know the drill. Sit tight until you say otherwise,” Bella mocked with a dramatic eye roll.

“Hit me or Mo if you need anything.”

I headed for the door while Morgan stood like a child, conflicted about which parent to follow. It didn’t take long before he hugged Bella, thanked her for her help, and joined me at the elevator. Mo didn’t say anything. He just looked at me and shook his head again when the doors opened.

“Spit it out,” I groaned, tired of him stealing glances and snickering to himself.

“If she’s gone in the morning, that’s on you,” Morgan explained.

“If she wants to risk her life, that’s on her.”

“If you haven’t realized it by now, she’s the only fuckin’ lead we have. It won’t kill you to play nice.”

“That hotel room I put her in is real fuckin’ nice.” Not to mention the tab she was going to run up for no other reason than being upset that there was another woman. Bella couldn’t hurt me any other way, so she’d hit my pockets because that was her go-to move. If she didn’t, then I’d be scared.

“Aite, Mr. Know It All. I just hope this shit doesn’t come back and bite us,” Morgan declared, stepping off the elevator.

I got home and immediately hopped in bed. It seemed like the sun was peeking through the curtains as soon as my eyes opened. I would’ve gone back to sleep if I wasn’t hungry as fuck. With all the commotion last night, I forgot to eat, so I went into the kitchen to make breakfast. Solana was still in bed, but it wasn’t long before her greedy ass smelled bacon and shuffled into the kitchen with a smile.

“Good morning,” Solana yawned, rising on her tiptoes to kiss my lips. “What’s all this?”

“For you.”

She smiled at the gesture as she slid on the barstool, “I didn’t know you could cook.”

“You never stay long enough to find out.” Solana rolled her eyes. She couldn’t say shit because she knew it was true.

Sliding the plate before her, she jokingly poked around at the food. After one bite, she realized I was better in the kitchen than she was.

“Thank you for breakfast.”
