“Were you yelling at Mommy?”

“No, we were just talking about something. I shouldn’t have been so loud,” I replied because the last thing I wanted was for my princess to be worried.

“Can you lay with me until I fall asleep?” Cam asked, bending over and scratching her leg.

“Yeah, I got you. Let me change, and I’ll be right in.”

“Okay.”

Cam yawned again before stumbling down the hallway like Adria did earlier.

“Mack, I’m sorry. You have to know that,” Sky explained once the coast was clear.

“Cam needs me.” I walked around Sky and changed my clothes before leaving her in bed alone. It didn’t even dawn on me until now that after all the back and forth, Sky still hadn’t said what Marcus had on her.

Cam wasted no time rolling over and snuggling into my side. She looked peaceful, her mouth half open, and light snores escaped. I smirked as I kissed her face, knowing I would do anything to protect the peace she exuded in this moment.

Chapter Fifteen

Tyson had just finished filling me in on the latest Solana drama. I don’t know what I expected, but her having a secret boyfriend she refused to tell anyone about wasn’t on my bingo card this morning. Honestly, I thought she and Pierre would’ve been married by now.

“Solana has a boyfriend. I can’t believe it,” I mumbled, recalling every interaction for a hint of who this mystery man was.

“Apparently. Let me know if you need help with anything.” Tyson groaned, getting dressed, while I pulled Bryson’s shirt over his head. “I do need your help with something.”

“What is it?”

“I have that dinner meeting with Vincent Carmichael this evening. Can you cover it?”

“It’s really going to take you all day to track down Solana and her boyfriend?” I asked, trying to keep a neutral expression, but inside, I panicked.

“No, but Gi just hit me. We have some other shit that will. You got me?” Tyson asked, stealing a glance over his shoulder.

“I don’t know Ty. I want to help, but I need to finish some other stuff at the office.”

“Please, Ky. I need you.” Tyson begged, and he looked so sexy doing it that I likely would’ve given into anything. A lobe of my lung. A kidney. Anything, even if I knew having dinner with Vincent was a bad idea.

My husband needs me. How can I tell him no?

“You owe me, Tyson.”

He turned around, wearing a victorious smile as he strolled over to where I stood.

“You want me to pay up now?” He teased, kissing my neck, making my knees weak. Tyson had always been skilled with his hands and lips. That was the one room in the house where we never had any problems. I almost took him up on his offer until Bryson began yelling ‘Ma Ma,’ bringing us both to reality.

“Your son has other plans.”

“Yeah, we’ll talk about that in the car.”

“Hmm, I bet.”

“I’ll take care of you tonight, though,” Tyson assured me while I kissed Bryson.

“You better.”

They left me to get dressed so I could start my day. I initially chose a black pantsuit because it was a random Thursday. Nothing was pressing or important on my schedule. Now, it no longer felt like an option, so I spent entirely too much time in the closet trying to settle on the perfect outfit. One that would satisfy my evening plans without looking like I was trying too hard.

Then again, that might be the golden ticket to getting this deal done. Shaking the thought from my head, I walked to the closet. After moments of pondering, I settled on a black midi dress and headed to the office to finish as many tasks as possible before meeting with Vincent.
