“Are they doing what I think they’re doing?” she whispers.

I nod. “I don’t know if it’s weirder to stand here and wait for them to leave or just hide out in the guest room now.”

“Just go now,” Raine interrupts. “I’m leaving now anyway.”

“You can’t just eavesdrop on our conversations,” I reprimand. “You’ll end up hearing something you don’t want to.”

“It’s fine, it’s fine.” She surprises us by giving us each a kiss on the cheek. “I love you,” she says, her eyes darting between us. “Both of you. Now I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’ll see you all later.”

We watch as she waves goodbye to Julian and Deacon and then kisses her dads goodbye. When Jesse gives me a knowing look, I drag Clementine into the guest room and breathe a sigh of relief when I can finally close the door behind me.

“Wow,” I breathe out as I walk farther into the room.“Today was a big fucking day.”

Clementine wordlessly guides me to the edge of the bed before stripping me of all my clothes. She drags my pants down my legs and then slowly undoes the buttons of my silk shirt. She pushes the material off my shoulders and lets it fall to the floor.

“What are you doing?” I manage to ask.

Instead of answering, she drops to her knees, and every nerve ending in my body hums. She pushes me to sit on the edge of the bed before spreading my legs wide and raising her lust-filled eyes to meet mine.

My stomach coils in anticipation as she presses her lips to the inside of my thigh. I watch with bated breath as she kisses up my leg, slow and full of reverence. When she reaches my hip, she bypasses my sex, and my breath hitches in disappointment.

“Clementine,” I breathe out.

Her mouth moves to my other knee, pressing the same open-mouthed kisses up my thigh, mirroring her previous movements. She brushes her lips over my covered pussy, and it takes everything in me not to beg for more.

Fingertips skate across my stomach, dancing along the bittersweet lines that are etched into my body. Her lips follow, a brand new tapestry, the shape of her love, now sewn into my skin as she kisses.

Adores.

Worships.

My eyes sting, my chest tightens, and my breath shudders. “What are you doing?”

“I told you,” she says. “I’m here just for you.”

It’s dark out, and despite the initial plan of the day to be visiting the cemetery and going to lunch, Zara and I eat an early dinner with Jesse and Leo before I watch her give them both hair cuts. Knowing they keep their hair long so Zara can cut it whenever they see one another makes a warm feeling spread through my chest.

It’s one thing to know the woman you love is also important to other people, but it’s another thing to see just how much. After spending time with them, the three of them enjoying one another’s presence on such a bittersweet day feels like a privilege to witness. And now we’re both fresh out of a shower and climbing back into bed.

It feels both scandalous and liberating to be having sex in Leo and Jesse’s house, because A: it’s nice not to be hiding, but B: they undoubtedly know what we’re doing behind closed doors.

The only reason I’m less in my own head about it is because Raine hasn’t come home yet.

Zara and I are sitting in our favorite positions, her back against the headboard and my head in her lap. “How cute was Reese?” she asks.

Smiling just thinking about the little girl, I tilt my head back to look at her. “I am amazed how small a baby is, and she’s already four months old,” I exclaim. “I kind of felt a little bit sheltered that I’d never seen a baby that size up close and personal before.”

“They’re so cute and tiny,” she agrees. “And you were so good with her.”

“I’m surprised Julian even let me hold her.”

“Do you want kids?” Zara blurts out, and for a second I almost think I misheard her.

“Did you just ask if I want kids?”
