“Yes.” I grin. “You have beautiful blonde hair.”
“Mommy has brown.”
“She does; hers is beautiful, too.”
“Hello, I’m so happy to meet you,” Ava says.
“Hi.” They make quite the picture of a perfect shifter family. “When I first saw the men in this town, I swear they must have some magic potion that made everyone so freaking beautiful. It makes sense that you are shifters and vampires. But I’ve met some shifters, so I still think you must eat something special. Can you tell me the secret?” I ask Ava but don’t wait for the answer. “Do you think when I turn into a lion, I’ll be like that too?”
“When?” Lucas asks alertly.
“I mean, if,” I say, backtracking. “If I turn into a lion.” I lick my lips. “It wouldn’t be a pain to be in a relationship with three men, but I don’t know for sure. It might be a lot of work.” I turn back to Ava. “Is it a lot of work? You have two. What’s it like?”
Ava laughs, and her guys chuckle. Revel sees the happiness around her, causing her to giggle. “Do you like drinks?” Ava asks instead of answering.
“Yeah, but I’m a lightweight. Two drinks, three max, and I’m way past tipsy.” Seriously, I cannot handle my alcohol.
“You can sip them when you come out with us girls,” she says. “We’ll set something up.”
“We just got her,” Lucas grumbles.
“Don’t pout; it’s not attractive,” River says, snarling.
“I don’t pout,” Lucas denies. I swear I see his lip push out slightly.
“Looks like it,” River persists.
“Guys,” Kerian and Las say at the same time.
“Listen, we want to get Breeane set up in the cottage.” Logan ran his hand down my arm, making me super glad I wore a short-sleeved t-shirt so I could feel his skin against mine.
Kerian steals Revel from River, making him pout, startling a laugh from me, and he winks. I laugh again at the ridiculousness of men when Lucas pulls me back against his chest. Ava and I share an eye roll.
“Can I get your number?” I blurt as I pull my phone out and shove it at Ava.
“Of course,” she says, entering her number. “I have a feeling you're going to need it.”
“Hey.” Logan scowls but with a small smile.
“Give me a call. I’ll let the girls know that we have another lady to add to the crew,” she says with relish.
“Like you haven’t been on the phone with all of them already,” Logan guesses.
“All morning,” River whispers, and Ava glares at him.
“It was nice to meet you,” Kerian says, rescuing River from harm, judging from Ava’s expression.
“Bye,” Ava says. “Be good to her.”
“Of course,” Logan says, nodding.
“Bye-bye,” Revel says, waving from over Kerian’s shoulder.
We watch them disappear into the woods. I turn to the guys, and seeing that I am the center of attention, a little thrill goes through me.
“The cottage,” I say encouragingly.
“Right.” Logan turns, guiding me with a hand on my back.
