“So, why would you want him back at the club in Nottingham?” I snap.
“Oh, trust me,” she hisses, screwing her face up in disgust, “I don’t. I’ve been sent to get him back to try and help Meghan. We’re all out of ideas.”
I scoff. “And you think taking Mac back after everything that happened will help?”
“No, I don’t. But when she gives birth, he needs to step up.” I gasp. “Oh, you didn’t tell her everything then?” Ruby adds, smirking.
“Fuck, Ruby. Get the hell out of here. I’ll find you when it’s time to leave.”
“Your old man’s gonna become a daddy.”
“Ruby!” he yells. She laughs and heads out. “Raven,” he begins, but I get off the bed, head for the bathroom, and turn on the shower. Mac watches me in silence. I feel numb, like someone suddenly switched everything off inside me. He lingers in the doorway, watching. “I was gonna tell you,” he mutters. I close the door in his face, making sure to lock it.
