“Yes, your room will always be here. And you are welcome here any time.” Her uncle got up from his seat and hugged her. “We love you Morgan, even when it doesn’t seem like it.”

“Your uncle is overprotective?don’t I know it,” her aunt said, taking hold of Morgan’s hand. “And I know I sometimes overstep, but it’s because I love you, too. We’re only looking out for you.”

“I love you too, Uncle Sam and Aunt Tri.”

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Travis

Travis scrubbed his kitchen floor. This place was definitely a bachelor pad, and it was gross. With Morgan moving out here, he didn’t want her to see his place such a mess. Once the kitchen sparkled, it was time to move to the living room. He dusted, vacuumed, and threw away old magazines.

His stomach growled. That made him think of pizza. He would plan to have Morgan over for dinner once she got moved in, and he’d order the best pepperoni pizza in the area.

Just then his phone rang. It was Morgan.

“Hey, handsome, what are you up to?”

Travis sat down on the couch, worrying that resting might derail the rest of his cleaning. “Just cleaning up the apartment.”

“Excuse me?”

“Yes, I’m cleaning my place.”

“Sorry, I’ve never heard a guy say that word before,” she teased.

“Haha, very funny.”

“Well, I hope you’re also making me a list of the best pizza places.

“I’m on it, don’t worry. Do you have a moving date yet?”

“No, not yet. But I did tell my uncle, so there’s that.”

“Wow, that’s big news. How’d that go? I mean, you’re still planning on coming, so that’s a good sign.”

“Yep, and he seems okay with it, especially because I am moving for a job, and not solely for a guy.”

“Right, yeah... right.” He stuttered. “So you wouldn’t even move for me?”

“Sorry, I’m not the kind of girl to chase after a guy. Lucky for you, there is an awesome job waiting for me.” Her voice was full of jest, but she wanted to make it very clear that this move wasn’t centered around him.

“Well, thank goodness for that! And I don’t care why you’re moving here, I’m just glad that you are. I miss you. Long distance is rough.”

Morgan nodded even knowing he couldn’t see her. “I miss you, too.”

As soon as they hung up, it was on to clean the bathroom. If he didn’t keep going, he knew he wouldn’t finish cleaning this place, so he pushed through before he broke for dinner.

The bathroom took longer than he expected. He guessed he’d have to start doing it more often.

He checked the time, since he was supposed to meet Ben for dinner. Cleaning the bedroom would have to wait.

Travis walked into the bar and looked around for Ben.

“Anderson! Over here!” Ben called, from a table in the corner. “Where’ve you been all day?”

“Cleaning my apartment.”

“Wait, what? I don’t think I heard you right. It sounded like you said you were cleaning your apartment,” Ben teased.
