“Uh-huh.” She went back to her filing. She wasn’t interested in videos of guys doing stupid things, which was likely what it was.

“Morgan,” Katie called for her attention. “You need to see this.” Katie held out her phone to Morgan.

With an annoyed sigh, Morgan glanced up to simply humor her friend. Instead, what she saw was Travis.

“What is this?” She grabbed the phone to get a closer look. It was a YouTube channel that appeared to be Travis’s personal account. The video was on pause, but she could see that he already had seven hundred and fifty views.

Katie pressed. “You really owe it to yourself to watch it.”

Morgan hit play, not knowing what to expect. How funny that he had made a YouTube account, after she had teased him about this exact thing.

But there he was on her screen, singing karaoke at a crowded bar. Not only were there hundreds of people seeing it online, but all the people in the bar were, too. She recognized the song; it was Beautiful Soul by Jesse McCartney. Her heart leapt into her throat.

Then the dance moves started. Travis was doing the moves that Willow had taught him the night she was babysitting the kids and he kept her company. She couldn’t help the little smile that formed on her lips.

The camera panned to the crowd. There sat the entire Falcons team, including Matt Jasper, who she remembered as a friend of her uncle’s.

Besides the team, who was cheering him on, the bar was filled with folks applauding.

This was no small gesture. The caption read “For my Morgan. I miss you.”

But the icing on the cake was when he announced to the room of people that the song was for Morgan Benson and she had his heart.

“Morgan, isn’t that wild? He sang that song for you!” Katie cooed. “He just announced to the entire cyber world and the Falcons team that he only wants you. And he linked part of the video to his Instagram—if you haven’t seen it yet.”

As Morgan watched, the likes went up to one thousand and kept climbing.

She sighed. “I miss him.”

Katie hugged her tight. “Girl, if you were waiting for him to prove himself to you, I say this is it.”

Her friend was right. Travis had basically told the world that he was serious about one girl and only that girl. And she was that girl. She might not like what he had to say, but he had earned his chance to explain.

CHAPTER THIRTY

Travis

Travis rang the doorbell of the Morris household. His heart thudded against his chest, and he was sweating through his shirt. Showing up here was a bold move, considering the welcome he was likely to face from Sam.

He needed to tell Morgan how he felt, and no text or voice message could do that properly. Plus, he needed to confront Morris. He wasn’t going anywhere, and Morris needed to know that. Laying out his goals was the respectful thing to do.

The door opened and Trina smiled awkwardly. “Travis? Hello.” She looked back into the house, then stepped aside and added, “Come on in.”

Morgan’s car was in the driveway, so he knew she was there.

“Do you want me to get Morgan for you?” Trina asked.

“Actually, I’d like to talk to Morr—I mean Sam, first.” Travis looked down the hallway to where Morris was leaning against the wall and glaring at him.

“Well, why don’t you two go into the living room? I’ll take the kids upstairs so you can talk.” Trina hurried to the living room. “Willow, Hank, come upstairs with me, please.”

The two kids ran out from the living room and up the stairs. Willow stopped to wave at him, before they both ran up the steps, with Trina following.

Sam walked into the living room and called over his shoulder to him, “You coming or what?”

Travis had seen enough interviews with Sam to know that he was generally a nice guy. This tough exterior, papa-bear thing he had going on was simply terrifying, though. Travis entered the large living room. Sam nodded to the couch that was across from the chair he was sitting in.

“Morris, good afternoon.” Sweat rolled down his forehead. “I wanted to talk to you. First, I need to apologize to you for the accusation that you had me sent down after discovering Morgan and I that night.”
