Pleasure began to build up inside my body.

“Lucas,” I breathed.

He squeezed my nipple lightly, because he knew how much I liked it. A glorious sensation burst through me, sending tingles out through my extremities. I contracted around him as I moaned in pleasure. Lucas reached his peak, and his moans drove me wild.

When we finally came down from the high of orgasm, I opened my eyes to see him totally relaxed. A smile spread across his face.

When we finished cleaning up, I pulled the blanket over both of us. We both breathed heavily, but we seemed to melt into the bed together as he wrapped his arms around me. I sank so deep into him, that it felt like our souls had converged into one. It was such a beautiful moment.

“That was amazing,” I whispered.

“And to think, we can do that anytime we want,” Lucas said.

“I want to,” I agreed. “But I worry about my health. That’s the first time my libido has returned in weeks, and I couldn’t keep up.”

Lucas propped himself above me and pushed a strand of hair out of my face. “Don’t worry, my dear. We’ll take it at whatever pace you want.”

“But it’s not fair that you have to do all the work.”

“I don’t mind being the main performer. We can still have fun sex, because sex comes in all forms, and can be adjusted based on what your body needs at the time.”

I curled into him. “I have accommodations for every area of my life. I don’t want them for sex as well.”

“I need adjusting, too. Sometimes I’m so depressed, it’s hard to be in the moment. But you usually make that up for me. So I can support you in this area, too. It’s only a big deal if we make it one. We get to write the rules about our relationship, nobody else does.”

He was being so understanding and sincere, which made me feel confident that we would get through anything together. Some people didn’t understand why Lucas and I had gotten back together, but I knew I’d made the right choice. No matter what happened, I always wanted to be with him.

I hoped one day, we’d be able to make this permanent.

CHAPTER 7

LUCAS

Nadine and I stayed curled up beneath my sheets all night. I hadn’t slept so well in… forever. Being with her felt more magical than my actual magic. She was incredible in every way, and I wanted to fall asleep every night holding her.

Even my outlook on life was better when I was around her. Maybe I didn’t believe every word that came out of my mouth, but I believed it enough to count. It was a hell of a lot better believing in something than nothing at all.

Grant had never returned to our room, so I assumed he’d stayed the night with Talia. The school was quiet the following morning. A few people moved through the halls to get breakfast, but almost nobody spoke. The whispers that filled the halls were so hushed that I could hardly hear them.

Grant and Talia were leaving the cafeteria when we arrived. They wore matching shirts with a cartoon drawing of a cat on them.

“Fun night?” Nadine teased when we approached. She bent down to pet Isa, who was following beside our friends

Talia ducked her head, and Nadine’s features immediately paled. She’d clearly said something wrong.

“We were having fun, but Ryan ruined it,” Talia said bitterly. “We’re trying to avoid him.”

My hands curled into fists. “What’d the asshole do?”

Grant frowned. “Last night, we were… getting intimate, and he showed up demanding he had a right to search the room. I threw on some pants and answered the door, but he shoved past me. Talia was under the covers. He humiliated her!”

Talia gritted her teeth. “He did it on purpose, because he doesn’t think people of different Casts should be together. He was trying to humiliate us.”

“I could strangle him!” Grant growled. I knew he would if he could get away with it.

“He’s an Executor,” Talia reminded Grant. “It’s best we don’t make things worse.”

Nadine formed a battle orb in her hand. “I’ll fry his ass for you. Where is he? In the cafeteria?”
