"Yes. God, yes." I chant as pleasure coils in my belly.

He orders me to clench around his cock as he lowers his fingers back to my clit. I silence a scream inside my throat as he muffles a groan against my neck and empties inside me.

A few minutes later, when I step out of the bathroom, Royce scans me and gives me a soft grin, offering me his elbow. “Ready, beautiful?”

I give him a wicked grin right back. “If I say no, am I looking at a round two?”

He chuckles. “There’s my girl. Come on.”

My hand is still in his when we walk in and take our seats at the round table. Nick is across from us, pretending not to notice. He knows better than to fuck with either of us here. There’s also a huge centerpiece between us, thankfully so we don’t engage in conversation. There’s no sign of Jace or Angel and our table is mostly empty.

When the auction starts, I lean in and whisper. “I heard bits and pieces, how’d it go with Jeff?”

“I told him enough to make him want to stop by my office this week. Hopefully, there’s time to verify your suspicions.”

The corner of my lip perks. “You’re so sexy when you’re serious.”

“I was serious back in that hallway,” he murmurs in a new mischievous tone I think I adore.

I play aloof and fold the napkin on my lap. “We can discuss labeling what this is later. I think you’re just trying to prove a point and I’m not—”

He tosses his napkin down and sits up, holding his hand out to me. “That does it. Get up.”

He can’t be serious, so I laugh him off. “No.”

He slumps back into his seat. “Shit.”

I giggle. He looks like a kid who just had his video game taken away. “What, that’s it?”

He tosses his hands up in defeat. “You said no.”

“So?”

He raises a brow. “Nicole. No means no.”

I slump next to him. “Noted.”

“Hey, you two,” Garret calls, taking a seat a few chairs down from us. A leggy blonde at his side.

I stiffen, but Royce doesn’t even flinch. His smile doesn’t fade. He doesn’t give anything away. “Hey, Garret. And I thought I was fashionably late.”

Garret wraps an arm around his date. “Melinda and I…got caught up.”

Royce turns to me with a smile. “Should go say hello to a few more people. Take a walk with me?”

I shake my head. “I’m good.”

He pins me with a warning glare. “Okay well… try not to have too much fun without me.”

I smile right back, challenging him to trust me.

With a very subtle head shake, he strolls away. I gather my thoughts on how to approach this…discreetly.

I come up blank.

I’m not used to being cautious or tactful. I plunge into dangerous situations, never worrying about consequences or having to filter my words.

But it wouldn’t matter, because I don’t have my target’s attention. He keeps looking away uncomfortably.
