I’m not sure how Alex will take the news if I am pregnant, but I do know how he feels about me. And this time, I have friends who love and support me. I’m not alone. No matter what happens, I’ll be okay.
After I’ve taken the test, it takes a couple of minutes for it to show the result.
I breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth, trying to keep myself calm.
Even if my life is different now, it doesn’t make this whole thing any less stressful.
Two lines.
My heart skips a beat.
I tuck the test away in my bedside drawer, keeping it until the right time comes to tell Alex. He’s still under a lot of pressure making this movie and miserable about Reece. I want this news to bring joy to him, not pile more pressure on top.
And when he does come home, it’s been a day full of action sequences, and he’s so tired that he falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.
Tomorrow will be the day.

Life moves on. It has to.
As time passes, we have no reason to stay with Josh and Delaney anymore. We can’t yet afford to live in their neighbourhood, but I’ve got a lead on a house that’s not too far away.
I still worry about keeping things together. We’ve been here three months, and things have been screwed up enough.
My focus has to be on what’s important, and that’s not just my career. I made a commitment to Lana and Casey when I moved them here, and I’ll be damned if I’ll let them down.
Watching Lana sleeping is still one of my favourite pastimes, and today I’m not on set so, for a change, I have time to lie here and indulge.
Her nose twitches in her sleep, and I reach out and stroke that wispy blonde hair that drew me to her in the first place.
There are times when I feel like I’m failing at everything, but Lana and Casey always bring me ’round to seeing that I’m not. Things haven’t quite gone the way I thought they would, but aside from the lack of camaraderie with Reece, life is good.
She stretches her neck, opens one eye and smiles. “Good morning.”
“It’s time you woke up. I’ve got a surprise for you today.”
Lana leans over, and I kiss her softly. “What is it?”
“It wouldn’t be a surprise if I told you what it was.”
She shakes her head and rolls over to look at the bedside clock. “It’s still early. Casey won’t be awake yet.”
“Is that a hint?”
“Maybe.” Lana laughs as I drop below the covers, taking soft bites of her thighs until I get into position to go down on her.
“You know I love this so much,” she murmurs, her voice thick with sleep.
“I know you do. It’s my favourite way to wake you up properly.”
I’m so aware I haven’t been as attentive to her while I’ve been working. Lana’s felt the strain of everything going on as much as I have.
But now I have her beneath me, arching her back and making those whimpering sounds in the back of her throat as I tongue her clit, and my world’s back in balance.
“I need you inside me,” she whispers.
