River caught me and kicked the chair out of the way.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and gripped his shoulders. He held me close, still moving in time with the music. Our faces were only inches apart, our eyes locked together until the last few notes of the song faded away.

River was panting from exertion, but he didn’t let me go until the spotlight flashed off and the club lights turned on.

Carefully, he slid me down his body and placed me on the floor. I wobbled like a newborn giraffe, my body not quite under my control yet. River steadied me, a soft smile on his lips.

“Thank you.” I stepped back from him so I didn’t jump into his arms and confess everything I’d realized in the last few hours. “That was amazing.”

“Yeah.” He cleared his throat. “I’m just gonna grab my stuff.”

“Okay.”

He disappeared through the door on the side of the stage that led to the back room. I made my way off stage, but instead of risking the platform, I sat on the edge and slid off like a toddler scooting down the stairs.

I’d seen more than one of the dancers do some impressive flips off the stage, but it would be my luck that I’d break my ankle just trying to jump down like a normal human.

A flash of something caught my attention. I turned toward the corner of the club near the other door that led to the back room.

Zane stepped out of the shadows, his arms crossed and his look probing.

I nodded and smiled. Hopefully he understood that was my way of saying I was going to make things right with River.

His expressions softened and he upnodded me, his usual smirk-smile in place.

He turned from me just as River pushed open the door to the back room and came out with Noah on his heels.

“Still gonna give me a lift home?” River asked, stepping right into my space so his chest brushed mine.

I looked up at him, craning my neck a bit. I loved how big and strong he was, how he could make me feel small.

“So much yes.” I licked my lips. He tracked the move with his eyes.

“Have fun, kids,” Zane slung his arm over Noah’s shoulder.

“Don’t wait up.” River tossed his brother a wink.

I grabbed his hand and took off, dragging him behind me.

River laughed and stumbled along for a few paces before righting himself.

He let me pull him out of the club and over where I’d parked.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into you, but I like it,” River commented when I practically shoved him into my car in my haste to get on the road.

“Nothing’s gotten into me yet, and that’s the problem.” I jumped into the driver’s seat and cranked the engine.

“Are you saying what I think you are?” River yanked his seatbelt down and clicked it in place.

“Do you think I’m saying I want your dick in my mouth as soon as we can find a spot where we won’t get arrested?”

“Well, now I do.”

I winked at him and slammed the car into gear.

The parking lot of the club was isolated from the surrounding buildings since it sat on its own plot of land and was surrounded by trees, but I didn’t want to risk his coworkers catching us.

River wasn’t the only one who didn’t want to share what we had with anyone else.
