“Here, maybe this will help.” I squeezed my legs together to try and make more room on the seat for him.
He managed to get one leg between me and the car door, but the center console stopped him from getting his other leg in place.
“I don’t think this is going to work.” He dropped his head on my shoulder and laughed. “So much for me trying to be all sexy.”
“You’re always sexy.” I kissed his neck. “Want to try the backseat?”
“Yeah. Okay.” He pulled away from my neck. “Should I use the door or risk trying to be all stealthy and slide between the seats?”
“I’m voting for stealthy.” I slapped his ass just hard enough to make a sound. “Now, get your sexy self in the back.”
Hayden wasn’t all that stealthy as he sort of fell into the back of the car in a loud and wriggly heap.
“Please tell me that was sexier than it felt,” he said from the back, his voice muffled and the car rocking as he struggled to sit up. “Thank god it’s dark.”
With a little more grace, I squeezed between the seats and joined him, sliding onto the middle seat and settling on it with minimal effort.
“How did you do that without flopping around like a fish out of water? Oh.” His tone changed. “Never mind.”
I knew that tone. He was jealous at the thought of me being in the backseat of a car with someone else.
I understood where his insecurities came from, and even when he got jealous of my past, he never made me feel like I’d done something wrong or like he was judging me for having a past.
It was actually kind of hot that he was as possessive of me as I was of him.
“I have a twin brother,” I said, keeping my voice light. “Chasing each other for revenge didn’t stop just because we were in a car.”
“Revenge?”
“Yup.” I couldn’t see Hayden’s features in the dark but could make out enough of him to circle my arms around his waist and tug him close. “Zane was the king of pranks when we were kids. I was always chasing after him after getting jumpscared or falling for one of his elaborate schemes. He loved to hide behind my seat when I called shotgun and grab me when I wasn’t expecting it. One time I managed to get into the back seat and sit on him before he could get out the door.”
“Impressive.” Hayden’s voice was breathy and soft.
“Come here,” I whispered, leaning toward him.
He closed the distance and brushed the sweetest, softest kiss against my lips. I sighed and melted into the seat, my hands on his hips as he settled so he was straddling me.
Mindful that we were two grown men trying to make out in a compact car, I slid down as far as I could and jammed my knees against the seat in front of me so he wouldn’t have to sit as high and could hopefully avoid bumping his head again.
Gently, he cupped my cheeks, still kissing me like I was the most precious thing in the world.
Hayden had two speeds when it came to sex: submissive and sassy. This was different. It was slow and sensual and full of heat, but it was the emotions behind it that stole my breath.
“Hayden,” I whispered brokenly.
“Yeah, babe?” He trailed his lips over my jaw.
I shuddered at both the sensation of his soft lips on my skin and the endearment. He’d never called me by one before. I could sense this was a big deal for him.
“You feel good.” I rubbed his back and let my head fall against the seat behind me.
“You taste good.” He nibbled at my jaw. “Can I mark you?”
“Do it.”
He closed his mouth over my throat and gently sucked. The pressure was constant and gentle, but it was how he nibbled and licked at my flesh that had me panting and rocking up into him.
“Jesus.” I blinked my eyes open when he pulled away. “Your mouth is magic.”
