He stepped down, a wide grin on his lips. “That’s the most amazing thing ever. Everyone should have one of these.”
“Thanks for putting it together for me.” I slid into his arms and hugged him.
He pressed a kiss against my hair. “I’m glad I could help bring your dream full circle. And thanks for not smashing any of my fingers or my balls.”
I pinched his side.
He jumped out of my arms, a startled laugh bubbling out of his chest. “Brat.”
“Who me?” I batted my eyelashes at him.
“Yeah, that doesn’t work on me.” He smirked. “But it’s okay. I like bratty Hayden.”
“He likes you too. Are you getting hungry?”
“Yeah. The beast is gonna get loud in a bit.” He patted his washboard stomach. “Do we have dinner plans?”
“We do.” I pecked a kiss against his lips and stepped out of his arms. “How about Thai food?”
“Yeah. Okay.” He gave me a strange look, but it was gone a second later.
“Is green curry still your happy food?”
He smirked. “You know it.”
I dug my phone out of my pocket and went to my contacts to call in our order.
“Talay Thai,” the owner answered.
“Hi, I’d like to place an order for pickup.”
“Sure, what can we get ready for you?”
“Can I get an order of the pad Thai, but can that be made mild and with no eggplant because of an allergy?”
“One pad Thai mild, no eggplant,” the owner confirmed. “Anything else?”
“Also, an order of the green curry with beef.”
“Excellent.” I could hear his smile. “Is that all for tonight?”
“That’s it, thanks.”
“That’ll be about twenty minutes. See you then.”
“They still know your order?” River asked as I slipped my phone back into my pocket.
“Yup, and yours too. He got excited for me again.”
River laughed. “How long until it’s ready?”
“Twenty minutes. Want to head out now and grab some beer on the way?”
“Yeah. Okay.” He shot me another confused look. “You want to drive?”
“Yup.” I held out my hand.
He took it and let me pull him out of the den and down the stairs.
