I hum with a little smile at her using Crow's legal name, and admit, "We did, but then mister man there accidentally headbutted her after she got in his face, and she screamed at him, then demanded he live with you full time when we marry." Momma's face reddens, but she looks ready to explode when I state, "Oh and she also tried to warn Kennedy away as well, accusing her of having a thing for me in front of the whole club, before calling herself a stepmom."
"That little…." Momma stops herself, her eyes going to Noah, who is busy playing with her necklace.
I chuckle. "Don't worry, Momma, she's gone," I placate her, and continue. “I knew something wasn't right. I never got the feeling Dad and Crow said I'd get when you meet the one."
Momma hums and whispers, "I guess your one will come around, son. Just be patient."
I nod, tilt my head, and reply, "My momma is lucky enough to find a second ‘the one.’"
She looks at Noah, her eyes looking a little sad as she admits, "I feel guilty sometimes…."
I furrow my brows and sit forward, rasping, "Momma, Dad would be happy that Crow has fallen for you…."
She looks at me, her beautiful blue eyes filling with tears. "He asked me to be his old lady but also to marry him, Alex. But Lola?—"
I cut in, "Momma, you know Lola doesn't want you two to have a relationship because she has a thing for me. She needs to grow up. You two have kept your relationship on the down low to soothe her but that shi… crap is done with now." I look at Noah and see he's slowly dozing off. I made eye contact with my mother. "It's time you think about yourselves. Crow asked for your hand, and I approved, because Momma, you love him just like you loved Dad, maybe even more." She goes to deny it, but I just smile and squeeze her knee. "It's not the same kind of love. Dad was your first love, who had your whole heart, but Crow, he's been there for you every day. He's become your reason for breathing. Don't let your fears of losing someone else or your fear of what others will do take away your happiness."
Her tears fall as she places her cheek on Noah's head.
"I love you, you know that?"
I grin at her words and state, "I mean, what's not to love?" She laughs, and I rasp, "I love you too, Momma."
She smiles wide as my eyes go to Noah, and she states, "You'll find your happiness, too, son. I just know it. And when you do, she'll knock you off your feet."
"I concur," Crow states as he walks in, making Momma's eyes light up. His brows furrow, seeing her tears, but she smiles wider as he bends down and kisses her gently, his hand rubbing my son's head.
When he pulls back, they make eye contact, and I know he sees her decision because his head whips my way. I grin before his whole body relaxes with relief. No one knows about them besides Snake and Bull, but now it's time to celebrate, which will most likely be after they elope.
Crow knows she won't want a big thing, which makes him perfect for her. He understands her.
He sits next to her, leaning back as she leans against him. He points and me and he states, "Some woman would be lucky to have you, Alex. You will find someone. I can feel it."
I nod as my eyes go back to my son, watching him sleep on my mother. I lean back on the couch, getting comfortable, knowing Momma has a pot roast in the oven, and it's mandatory to stay. I can smell it, and I am hungry, and the thought of going to the attic apartment tonight is not appetizing.
Soon, I'll be returning to my old room, the master with an en-suite. My parents preferred the main one down the hallway off the kitchen. The house has three rooms upstairs, a basement with half a gym and half a theater room, a large backyard, and an attic room that the brothers built after my dad died to help keep me occupied. That apartment is small, with one room, a small kitchen-living area combo, and a shower.
"So, when are you redecorating my boy?"
I chuckle at Momma's question and tilt my head toward her, admitting, "I don't know if I will. Though, your room will be turned into an office. I'll probably take the bathroom out to make it part of a library. I'll think about speaking with Snake about removing the attic apartment, and turning it into a playroom. Honestly, Momma, the house is otherwise perfect."
She nods, her eyes showing appreciation that I'm willing to keep the house the same in memory of her first love, the man I looked up to.
Crow grins, kissing Momma's head, and my appreciation toward him grows. He knows Momma will always love my father, but he also knows he's everything to her.
I hope I can find something similar in how they look at each other. Having Noah made me realize that I want something like Momma had with my dad, but I also want something more, which is what she's got with Crow.

Quinn – 23 Years Old
I sigh as I watch Donny walk over to the counter to order his fifth coffee since arriving forty minutes ago…or is it his sixth?
I swear I feel hyper just watching him drink them, and honestly, I can hardly understand him because of how fast he's been talking since his third cup. My eyes go to the door, wondering if I can just ditch him and make a run for it, but knowing my mother brought me up right, ditching a guy she set you up on a date with is not a good idea, even if his eyes keep going to my breasts.
I'm also not a bitch, though, right now I wish I was.
I look at him again but roll my eyes, seeing him trying to get Violet's attention, who has had enough of his unwanted advances by the looks of things. Violet and I went to school together, though the girl was amazingly smart and was a year ahead of me, despite being the same age. She's quiet but also pretty amazing.
