“Very,” he deadpanned. “I missed you, Sal.”

My heart stopped beating, and every one of my nerves felt icy. He missed me. I missed him. But how… do you tell someone that?

How do people easily say that they miss someone? I usually just rotted when Cozen left and just kept it to myself.

“What?”

“Nothing!” I shook my head, swallowing. “Just tired.”

“I bet… I’ll see you soon,” Abel said.

“Are you coming here tonight?”

He sighed. “Not tonight. I’ll be back tomorrow. Just finishing up my mom’s new at-home office.”

I nodded, feeling myself grow numb. “Well, I don’t want to keep you too long…”

“We can still talk,” he said, brows pulling and eyes narrowing.

I send a small smile. “I’m just hungry and have been bathing since we got back.” It was a lie but whatever.

“Mhm, okay. Well, I’ll see you, Psalm,” he muttered. “I love you, P.”

My throat swelled at his words. My head spun as I couldn’t breathe.

I nodded. “Bye, Abel.” I hung up, feeling my chest grow heavy. I missed him, and I wanted him around me. It was weird not seeing him.

He was still a Rookie and had nothing to prove, while I had to work and prove myself. If I wasn’t Spectre, I would be able to meet his family while also relaxing.

Now, I was sore, sad, and missing Abel. I crawled under the covers, placing the phone on the nightstand.

I didn’t even want to look for Osiris’ dick pictures anymore.

After dressing in PJs, I pulled the blanket over my head and closed my eyes, trying to stop the throbbing in my chest.

I’d never told someone I loved them, and they never told me that either. I was just an orphan girl that no one ever tried to get close to.

Now I missed men more than I had missed anything in my life. Slowly I drifted to sleep.

A knock woke me, and I wondered if it was Osiris getting his phone. But when I peeked, it wasn’t even on the nightstand anymore, and my hair was dried.

With a huff, I threw my blankets off and moved to the door, putting my hair up in a bun.

Opening the door, I looked up, blinded by the light.

“Let’s not make it a habit to skip dinner,” Abel’s voice had me doing a doubt take.

“W-what are you doing here?”

Abel stepped inside, and I moved backward with each step. He set down his bag, eyes locked on me. Then he closed and locked the door behind him. “I finished up some things early. Why are you acting weird?”

I remembered his words in my head, how he loved me and how he missed me. “I-I just woke up.”

“Okay,” he stood before me, arms crossing. “So why you acting weird?”

I shook my head.

“Did you miss me?” he asked.
