“It was lovely getting to know you, Sierra. I hope we’ll see each other in the future. I’ll be expected a wedding invitation through the door in the near future, and I’ll be insulted if I don’t.”

Sierra’s cheeks redden at the mention of us getting married, and I could entertain that thought all day long if I could.

“We better get started then, huh?” Sierra jokes, winking up at me with a smile that has me wanting to drop to one knee in front of her right this second.

“You take care of each other, you hear? You need anything, you know where to find me.”

“What happens when we get back?” I ask, my voice cutting through the comfortable silence between Alec and I as we head back home.

“What do you mean? You mean with us?” He doesn’t take his eyes off the road, but his grip on the steering wheel tightens a fraction.

“Yeah.” My voice comes out unsure.

The fact that we’re only a few hours away from home has hit me all of a sudden. In a few hours we’ll be back to normal life and the past weeks will all be a distant memory.

What happens with us?

Does Alec just slip back into his role as my brother’s bodyguard? Go back to being Gage’s right-hand man and pretend he never touched me in ways I never thought possible? Pretend he didn’t explore every inch of my body? Or will he stand up and claim me? Tell my brothers we’re together regardless of whether they like it or not?

I’m fully aware that our relationship could put his job in jeopardy, and I know he values the friendship he shares with my brothers, question is, is he willing to risk that for me?

He reaches across the console and links his fingers through mine, his thumb rubbing the back of my hand soothingly. “Are you worried things might change between us?”

“I don’t know. Maybe? We’ve been gone for a long time, in our own little bubble and it’s been perfect. Being with you is all I’ve wanted since we met and I don’t want anything to change.”

“You don’t want anything to change with your brothers around,” he clarifies.

“No.”

“Princess, nothing is ever going to change the way I feel about you. It doesn’t matter where we are or who we’re with, it will always be us. Of course, your brothers’ approval means a lot to me, but whether they do or not, I’m not giving you up. Not for anything.”

I squeeze his hand, my heart exploding in my chest.

“How long until we reach home?” I ask.

“About three hours. We can stop for food soon if you’re hungry?”

“Starving, but only because I’m bored.” It feels like we’ve been on the road forever when in actual fact it’s been closer to four. I tried reading, but reading in a moving car is never a good combination, especially when you suffer from motion sickness.

There’s not much in terms of scenery save for the endless road ahead of us, a few trees and the wide expanse of nothing that touches the horizon.

“Yeah, it’s not the most exciting drive, but it’s not so bad with you beside me.” He takes his eyes off the road briefly to flash me a smile. He takes my hand and brings it to his lips before placing it on his thigh with his hand atop mine, our fingers threaded together.

No matter how many times he touches me, the electrical current that passes between us is still there, that same spark that has my body coming to life just like the first time he touched me.

I glance over at him. “I have an idea on how we can pass the time,” I say wearing a cheeky grin.

“Oh yeah?”

I nod. “Mm-hm.”

Letting my hand slide out from under his, I reach for the bulge between his legs.

He lets out a groan. “What’re you doing, princess?”

“What does it look like I’m doing?” I shoot back, giving him a squeeze.
