Page 46 of Burn for Her

She hadn’t done anything to warrant Reaper’s sudden bolt out the door. And you know what? If he couldn’t handle her heat, he didn’t deserve it. Pain said he was the best one… what a load of bullshit.

Yet, even as she slammed the door shut and marched towards the gate, Lena could still feel Reaper’s lingering touch where he’d swept his fingers down her back. It was nutty to be so warped and enthralled over a single touch. No, it was desperate. Lena didn’t do desperate. Now she was pissed off.

Could she have insisted on being assigned another host for the night? Fuck yes. But she didn’t want to. How sad was that? She was so close to getting her wildest fantasies and now poof!

Gone.

Over.

The. End.

She didn’t want another host. That sonofabitch Reaper ruined her for all other experiences there too. She was never going back. How could she?

And what’s worse? Lena had this ridiculous feeling that no one could compare to Reaper. No one had before tonight and she sure as shit wasn’t going to hunt down someone else to satisfy her fetishes now.

Reaper.

Damn that sonofabitch straight to Hell.

Lena never experienced a more electrified chemistry with another man in her entire life as she had while being tied to that dais, fully clothed, and blindfolded. If her body responded so intensely to just his voice and a few touches…

“Holy Hell.” She wrapped her hands around the gate and tried to take in a few breaths. Whatever pheromones they pumped into that room must still be rocking her system. She needed to cleanse her lungs. Shit, she needed to cleanse her soul! With the cravings she had, she was going to rot in Hell.

Worth it though. Damnit, if she had just one night to live out her wildest fantasy, she’d chose Reaper as her partner, and if going to Hell was the price for playing with danger, she didn’t care.

Reaper seemed like a man who could fuck a woman boneless. His big, sharp fangs practically taunted her in that room. Lena closed her eyes and imagined what they felt like scraping along her skin… piercing her.

She leaned into the closed gate and let the iron bars cool down her cheek. This was her one shot and she was blowing it because her pride demanded she leave this club. No… not her pride. Something else.

“Damnit.” Pushing the iron gate, she grunted when it didn’t budge. “Hey!” She waved her hand in front of the little security camera over on the light post. “Let me out! Unlock this thing.”

Nothing happened.

“Hey! Unlock this right now! I want to leave.”

“You alright, Miss? Need some help?”

Lena looked up to see a man in jeans and a black leather jacket with a hoodie cross the street, heading straight towards her.

“Is the lock stuck or something? The gate is usually wide open.”

“It’s fine,” she said, and let go of the iron bars. Her gut said to back up, so she did. The man made no move to come closer. “I just have to run back in to tell them to unlock it.”

“Oh… okay.” He pulled the hood over his head, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and walked down the road just after saying, “Have a good one.”

Lena didn’t bother responding. She was too busy heading back in to give the manager of this place an earful. Furious and fed up, she shoved open the front door to the club and—

“You need to come with me,” a woman said.

“Yeah, no, you need to let me out. Unlock the front gate.”

“No.” The blonde crossed her arms over her chest. She reminded Lena of a cheetah, smooth lines, lanky limbs, probably fast on her feet. Her hair was pulled back in a tight, high ponytail and she was dressed in a latex outfit and combat boots.

“Lookie here, cat woman. I’m not going to ask you again. Let me out of here or I’ll knock you out and unlock the damn thing myself.”

The woman arched a perfectly manicured brow. Lena thrust her chin out, ready to rock and roll with this bitch.

“We can’t let you out. We’ve gone into lockdown. All guests are hidden safely in their rooms with their hosts. The pool is secured and heavily guarded. The gate will remain locked until the threat we’re facing is over. You need to come with me. Now.”
