After giving me a few seconds for it to sink in, he took my arms and jerked me against his body. He shouted at John and the others in the gym, his voice booming through the rafters.
“Get the fuck out…all of you.”
As they all hurried to the locker room, he slanted his mouth over mine and allowed his emotions to drive him again. In that mix, there wasn’t any anger or rage. His kiss expressed only love. A possessive, all-consuming, fierce love. Nothing could have completed me more than that kiss.
“Forgive me,” he commanded.
There wouldn’t be a compromise. The unwavering determination in his eyes made it clear he planned to win this round. And me, wanting him insanely...well, I would’ve let him have what he wanted anyway.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and breathed my answer onto his lips.
“I forgive you.”
He lifted me into his arms and kissed me again. We kissed longer, harder, both of us unrestrained, and our kisses fierce and breathless to the end.
“You’re part of me, Elle. You’re the only part of me that’s good, the one piece that holds the rest of me together. At times, I might be away, but I’ll never leave you.”
His tone sharpened for a second.
“Don’t doubt me again.”
I was completely high on him, and really, I had nothing to say, so he went on.
“The world round us will change. How much I want you will never change.”
We pressed our lips together, then I pulled back, looked into his eyes, and confessed.
“The truth is, I can’t find myself when you’re away.”
He kissed my forehead, my temple, my lips.
“Look harder, baby. You’ll find us both, I promise.”
The pleading in his eyes, not his words, made me see our reality more clearly. As individuals, we were broken and lost. As a couple, we were whole. I cemented his pieces together, and he anchored me to the place where I belonged.
I smiled at the thought…we fit together so well.
“Come take a shower with me,” I said.
His chest rumbled, and he kissed my neck, my butterfly.
“You might not get too clean,” he teased.
I wiggled my fingers through his hair. He’d had it cut shorter while he was gone. I’d loved his hair before, loved watching him rake it back when he was frustrated, but the messy spikes suited his handsome face just as well.
John abruptly banged through one of the steel doors.
“Umm…Uncle Robert is here. He insists on a family meeting.”
Will kept his eyes on mine and grinned.
“Quite a lot of cock blockers in this house.”
I laughed while John went on again.
“Well, I told him you’re the only one who can call a family meeting, but fuck, he just carried on and on until I couldn’t stand it anymore. And he dragged Mum into it. They’re both in the war room.”
“Christ. All right, John. Go on and tell them we’ll be there in a few minutes. And find Thom if he’s not already there.”
