“Might want to mind your own business from now on, yeah? But if it was just a good fuck you were looking for, those two might be able to help.” I point my drink at the twins. “Twins. Big cocks. Great in bed, from what I hear.”

“Oh my god! Are you always this forward?” one scoffs at me.

Blunt, yes. Drunk with no filter, yes. Pissed off and agitated that they came at me, yes. I smirk. “You just invited yourself into a party you aren’t welcome at, told me my girlfriend is cheating on me, and tried to cause shit. What was your goal here?” I don’t even know why I’m still talking to them.

“We were just trying to help you!”

“You were just trying to fuck him,” Laken butts in. She steps right in front of me. “Not gonna happen. He’s mine.”

Cock hard.

They panic, looking at Jed for help.

“He’s mine, too. Might want to leave,” Laken says, an edge to her voice that has me ready to bend her over this counter right here and now.

“Whiskey makes her mean,” Jed laughs, lying. “Might want to go now.”

“Oh my god. Slut.”

My vision goes red and my blood pressure spikes. I grip Laken’s arm and remind myself I can’t hit a young female guest in my own house. “Get the fuck out,” I snarl at them instead. “Leave. Now.”

Mom notices something’s up, picking that moment to interject. “Hi. Aren’t you guests? You shouldn’t be here. Want me to walk you back to the resort?”

“Get the fuck out before I throw you out,” Jed says.

“Jedrek!” Mom scolds. “They’re guests.”

“Guests who are disrespecting Laken. Leave.”

Mom looks at Laken, who is still drunk and…sad. Shit. I ruined her night with my bullshit. “You okay, Lakes?” Mom asks.

“Your sons here are sleeping with the same slut.”

Mom spins. “Careful what you say about my sons and this beautiful woman,” Mom’s voice picks up an edge. “Please go back to the resort. You aren’t welcome here.”

Pissed at not getting their way, the two sisters look disgusted and embarrassed as they turn to leave. At the last second, one of them hisses, “Incest whore.”

Laken takes one step forward, and then her fist is hitting one sister in the nose. “Fuck you.”

Jed and I pull her back, proud but baffled. I’ve never seen Laken get violent before. Shockingly, Mom snorts out a laugh. “Time to go,” Mom says, steering them to the door to make sure they leave.

The entire party is watching us now, but I don’t give a fuck. It’s hot that Laken got physical, but it’s soul-crushing to see her feelings hurt.

“Laken,” I sigh her name, palming her cheeks. “Are you okay?”

“Give me your hand,” Jed says, checking her knuckles.

Laken looks at both of us, drunk and emotional tears filling up her eyes. “I’m not…we’re not…” We’re not incestuous and she’s not a whore. My heart breaks for her, and reality crashes in because this is the shit we’re going to have to deal with at times, and it just fucking sucks.

“No, we’re not. Don’t you dare let this ruin your night, love,” Jed says. “They know nothing, and their opinion doesn’t matter, right?”

“I’m sorry,” she says, sad as fuck.

“No, I’m sorry, Laken. Fuck. This is my fault for goading them.” I feel like a piece of shit about it now that Laken’s feelings got hurt.

“Look at me.” Jed grabs her face. “Laugh about this, love. Laugh at their assumptions and their judgments, and then laugh at how happy we are. Laugh at how much we love you and how little the opinions of others matter. Laugh because this is our life now, and we’re going to have to learn to be happy despite the comments. Laugh because you just stood up for all three of us and made us so proud. Laugh because we’re happy, Laken.” He smiles at her, already making her feel better.

“He’s right, Laken. Don’t let the small minds of others ruin our night.” I squeeze her good hand.
