I laugh, pressing myself back into him in return. “Why do I feel like your tail would be wagging right now in wolf form?”

“It so is.” He chuckles, pressing a soft kiss on my neck. My heart flips.

I want to know more about him too.

“Noah?”

“Hmm?”

“Who’s your most important person?”

Noah hums, kissing my shoulder. “That’s a tough one. My whole pack is important to me. I wouldn’t be able to function without my top Beta, Yasmine. She’s technically my badass second-in-command, but she’s really my best friend and always has been. But there’s also my mom, the current Luna. She holds us together, and she’s an Omega who takes no shit. But if I’m honest, my little sister, Rainn, is always my most special wolf. She’s a sweet Omega too - so warm to everyone she meets and always smiling. Maybe her.” He gazes into my eyes, running a wave of comfort down my sides with his palms. “You’re also now on my top favorite wolf list.”

So Noah has an entire community behind him, and it’s seemingly close-knit. That’s something I’ve always wanted.

My heart pounds even before I ask my next question. “Am I part of your pack now?”

Noah smiles, stroking my hair back to kiss my bare neck again in wave after wave of buzzing pleasure. “I want you to be, but it’s not up to me to decide.”

My stomach sinks. “Even though I’m part Lycan, you still think your pack will reject me?”

“Oh, my poor Omega. I didn’t mean that. I meant that it’s your decision and yours alone. I’ve already decided I’m fighting for you if anyone has something to say about it.”

I furrow my brows, unsure about something in his words. “Noah, how big is your pack?”

He drops his head. “About twenty thousand wolves...”

I have to fight to hold back a gasp. He’s way more influential than I think he’d ever like to admit, chewing his lip and avoiding eye contact. But now I know what sounded off. “So why does it matter if one new wolf joins? Is it just because I’m your mate and you’re their head Alpha?”

Noah sighs. “I didn’t want to pressure you with anything, but they’re expecting my mate to be the next Luna.”

“The next Luna...” I rack my brain, struggling to understand what that has to do with his pack accepting me. “Didn’t you call your mom that?”

“Yes. She was my dad’s Luna - the usual pack position for the top Alpha’s mate. They led the pack together.”

My stomach drops.

Noah’s scent sweetens, washing calmness over me. “I don’t expect you to want to become my Luna. I don’t live by tradition, even though half the pack resents me for it.”

I stay silent - despite my wolf begging me to speak up. She wants to be Luna so badly. But besides barely understanding what “Luna” means, do I have what it takes to lead twenty thousand wolves? I just learned I’m part Lycan.

Noah whines as he kisses my neck, likely smelling my distress.

But before I can speak, my front door slams. I jump, tightening my abdomen in panic. Without knowing why I’m so startled, Noah soothes me with a steady squeeze.

“It’s just your friend,” he whispers.

“My–?”

“Taming my Alpha took longer than I expected!” Amy shouts. “You better be unmarked and using protection!”

Amy stomps down the hall, making headway.

And we’re butt-naked and still knotted.

My voice cracks. “Amy, don’t come in!”
