"You must have stood out a bit; Rogue noticed you."
That was a question that still plagued me. Why did Rogue notice me in a club packed with hundreds of people? "I don't know why they did."
"You're a beautiful woman, why wouldn't Rogue notice? I saw the way they looked at you. Hell, the way they talked about you."
Opening my mouth, I almost asked what Rogue had done or said. I was saved from making a fool of myself when Rogue and Bruiser walked in with drinks in their hands. As Rogue handed me a glass, soft lips brushed my forehead.
"You okay, babygirl?" The question was low and raspy. Them just checking in.
"I'm good."
Rogue nodded. "We'll have a drink and head off to dinner. We may miss our reservation, but I'm not letting you miss the midnight cruise."
They lowered to sit beside my legs, a leanly muscled arm wrapped around my calves and Rogue drew their fingers along my leg until they curved their hand over my knee.
My gaze went to Bruiser and Charlotte to find him tucked between her parted legs. He tipped his head back and the intensity of the love in his expression and eyes took my breath away. With my chest tight, I realized how much I craved that unquestioning devotion. A person who didn't hide their love and obsession. When soft lips stroked across the side of my knee, I jerked my attention back to Rogue.
Rogue winked at me right before the sharp nip of their teeth. They went back to having their drink like they hadn't just sent goosebumps traveling over my skin. Flesh that suddenly felt too tight—ill-fitting over bone, muscle and sinew. The sudden desire for Rogue shocked me. I hadn't assumed someone like them would be my type. Hell, I hadn't thought I'd be theirs.
I put my meltdown on the back burner until I was alone and could freak out. We shared conversation, a few more drinks and I couldn't remember the last time I'd had so much fun. Between laughter and inner-swooning over a massive, scarred biker making his wife giggle. As it grew later, Rogue said that we needed to go so we could find food before we were scheduled to be at the marina.
Rogue ordered a car saying since she had precious cargo, they weren't taking a chance with my safety. In the car, Rogue checked and found out someone had canceled and we could still make it to the restaurant. I was going to enjoy the night. There was nothing more I wanted to do than spend time with Rogue and maybe, just maybe figure out what was happening with me—between us.
Chapter 8
Rogue
The half-moon and bright stars sparkled off the calm waters of the bay as we relaxed on deck with snacks and wine. I'd felt nervous about taking Trinity to my parents' place. Not that I hadn't wanted her to meet them, but I worried if it would be too much. I'd been wrong, she'd laughed, the apples of her dark cheeks flushed with happiness. Her eyes had shimmered.
We'd had a light dinner at the restaurant and barely made it to the marina in time to meet my friend. He'd dropped anchor and disappeared to his room below. Colin told me to just holler when we were ready to continue. I appreciated the privacy. One of my best friends, he'd grinned and chuckled as I explained why I'd needed to borrow his boat. He'd been down to help me romance my prospective babygirl.
"How is our first date so far?" I asked as I slipped my arm around Trinity’s waist and tugged her a little closer. Just to keep her warm, at least that's what I told myself.
Keeping my hands off the woman was impossible. The kiss I craved to give her held under tenuous control to respect her boundaries. There was also the fact she was straight. Even though she'd agreed to a date with me, I wasn't sure if it would go beyond that one night. Setting my glass aside, I crossed my arm over my chest to pull my jacket off her shoulder to brush a kiss to her silky, sweet-smelling skin, then I covered her back up.
Once we'd gotten there, I'd removed my jacket to drape it around her to keep warm. Her chin had dipped, hiding the hint of a smile and the shy flutter of her lashes. Everything seemed new for her. She'd told me she'd never dated. Yet I couldn't understand how, though. How could men resist her? A flawless Goddess with glistening brown skin and a thick body. It wasn't even all about her physical presence for me
When she hadn't answered my question, I glanced at her to find her staring up at the sky. My gaze traced the line of her jaw, down the elegant arch of her neck and lower to the peak of her shallow cleavage. Slipping my arm from behind her, I held my breath as I stroked the backs of my fingers up the front of her throat. She flinched slightly, but I gently hooked two fingers around the opposite side of her jaw turning her to look at me.
Her hooded eyes didn't hide the flash of insecurity. Trinity's breath hitched as I drew my thumb across her lush, pouty bottom lip, and then traced the perfect cupid bow of her upper one. I'd never wanted to learn a woman's lips and body as much as I did hers. The intensity of the urge terrified me.
"Rogue…" She whispered my name in her soft, raspy voice.
That was a voice to whisper naughty demands in my ear as I rested between her strong, thick thighs.
"It's almost cruel how beautiful you are."
"Don't—"
I jerked her closer with my fingers tangled in her soft hair keeping her mouth mere inches from mine. "Don't what, babygirl? Don't say that I'd fall to my knees to worship you with one little ‘yes, Daddy’ from those perfect lips."
She swayed into me. I groaned at the press of her little tits against my chest. Her skin warmed mine, exposed by my opened shirt.
Out of all the women in my club that night, she'd drawn me like the proverbial self-destructive moth to the flame. She'd be terrified to know how much obsession burned in my blood just from that brief glimpse I'd caught of her tall frame in a crowd of hundreds. The subtle bounce of her lush ass. That rolling of her hips. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep my confession inside. I'd already said too much, but lying wasn't in my nature. Then my brain said, fuck it.
"If tonight is all I get, why lie?" I asked as I shifted closer, giving her just a tease of my lips only to retreat.
"Bu… but why me?"
