“I’ve thought long and hard about it.”

“You have?”

“Yeah, so while I appreciate you being considerate of my needs, it’s not necessary. I know what I want.”

“And what’s that?”

“You.” She kisses me softly. “Any way I can have you. Nico with or without siblings. Marriage or no marriage. So long as you’re committed to me and only me, then that’s all I need.”

“You deserve a husband and a nice house on the lake with a white picket fence and a dog or two running around.” Although I’ve considered changing my stance on marriage, I’m still uncertain about the idea, although I wish I weren’t.

This is Ellie. Not Hillary.

Ellie steals me away from my torrid thoughts by asking, “Who wants a dog when I could have goats?”

I can’t help laughing, and the tight ball in my throat loosens. “Don’t forget about pigs.”

“And a sheep.”

“Did I mention I have a horse too? And six kittens I bottle-feed every day?”

Her eyes shimmer. “All you’re missing are some chickens.”

“How many do you want?”

“At least a whole coop.”

“Consider it done.”

She presses her palm against my stubbled cheek. “Can’t you see? You were who I envisioned for myself, Rafael. It was always you.”

I glance away, unable to handle the look of pure adoration on her face.

Ellie brushes her thumb across my skin, silently willing me to look at her. “You’re so concerned about me deserving better that you didn’t stop to think about what you deserve.”

My lungs stutter before stalling completely.

“You deserve to be with the one who will take the time to see you.” She pushes me toward the bed and steps between my spread thighs. “The one who will show up time and time again to be there for you, even if you push them away because you’re scared, angry, or unhappy.” She presses her lips against my forehead. “They don’t quit, run, or cheat. They will fight for you, even if it means fighting against you, because life is a war zone, but love is the greatest weapon we have.” Her mouth brushes over my right cheek and then my left.

“The one does exist, but not in the way you thought I meant, like some soulmate or something cosmic. To me, the one is someone willing to do everything in their power to be the person you deserve, not because they are fated to love you but because they choose to.”

She straddles my lap before her mouth claims mine with a passionate kiss that I feel down to my very soul.

Goose bumps spread across my skin. Ellie’s fingers dig into my hair, and her hips rotate as she grinds against my cock. My grip on her hips tightens from her maddening movements, and I groan when she rubs against me at just the right angle.

She pulls away, but I seal my mouth over hers again. My grip on the back of her neck is as punishing as the one she has around my heart.

Eventually, my control snaps, and I flip her over on the bed. She lets out a laugh as she slams against the soft mattress, and I make quick work of her clothes, although I struggle for a moment with her sports bra until she helps me remove it.

She matches my rushed movements with her own, and I lose a shirt button from how hard she yanks on the fabric.

Despite the urge to fuck her hard and fast, I slow things down and simply enjoy the sight of Ellie looking up at me without a hint of self-consciousness despite her body being fully on display. Her trusting me like this means the world to me, and I’ll do everything in my power to protect it.

“No merezco a alguien tan hermosa como tú.”

She doesn’t ask me to translate, but based on the way her cheeks heat, she understands enough.

I pepper her skin with light kisses before sealing my mouth over her nipple. She gasps when I suck, and her hands dig into my scalp, tugging at the strands as I flick my tongue over the pebbled peak. Her back arches, and a strained moan escapes her when my teeth scrape against the sensitive bud.
