I pull her under my arm and mess up her hair. “Nice to see you make an appearance.”

“Nice to see you too, Prez,” she replies, sounding impressed. “My my, haven’t we come up in the world.”

I laugh. “I have, and I’m looking forward to you being our lawyer when we get into shit.”

She grins. “I’m ready and waiting. Let’s place bets on who is going to be the first person who needs me.”

Cara points to me. “This guy. He’s out here in the middle of all the drama. You name it, it’s happened. This month alone.”

“Yeah, and I still have someone following me,” I mutter low enough so no one hears me. I saw the same car following me again yesterday, but I still haven’t figured out who this woman is. If I’m being honest, with everything going on I’d almost forgotten about it.

Natty smirks. “So I’ve heard. Looks like it’s time for our generation to take over. Faye told me I can handle all the club business now and only call her in if it’s important.”

“Maybe you’ll find your own biker to call yours,” Clover says suggestively.

Natty makes a face. “Clo, you know they aren’t my type. When I think of a biker, I think of Dad or your dad or Rhett.” She visibly shakes off her disgust. So dramatic. “I’m going to end up with a lawyer, or a banker. Someone who wears suits every day and looks damn good in them.”

“Well,” Cara starts, “none of us actually ended up with a biker.”

“I did,” Con says as she comes back over, and it’s the first time she says it with confidence. I think I fall in love with her in that moment.

“Damn right you did.” I lean over to kiss her.

“Awww...” everyone coos, and I give them all the finger while I show everyone that Con is mine.

“Either way, guess you’re going to be busy then, Natty,” Cara replies, then picks up her sister and throws her into the pool, laughing.

Natty resurfaces and spits water out of her mouth. “I’m going to kill you!”

Faye arrives, smiling happily as she sees us all together. Clover runs to hug her mother, who is saddened when she hears Fire is at home with Felix.

“I didn’t know it was going to turn into a family pool party,” Clover says. “For all we knew, Con was going to run out of here screaming.”

Con laughs. “There’s still time.”

I can’t remember the last time I have felt this relaxed. I know my mom was a little shocked and confused by the whole Con situation and with her being pregnant, but I hope now that they have met and spoken to each other that this can just become our new normal.

My mom will always love Cara, and hell, so will I, but she can also grow to love Con like her own daughter, too. Through this child, we will always be tied, the whole lot of us, and we need to make the best of the situation.

I sit down with my mom, Faye, Bailey and Con. “Pregnant and moving into the clubhouse,” Faye comments, smiling to herself. “Doesn’t that sound familiar? Do you know what you’re getting into, Con?”

“Don’t scare her off,” I grumble.

“She’s moving here willingly,” Cara’s mom points out, laughing. “Rhett didn’t have to track her down in a hotel and bring her back.”

“I feel like that makes it worse, somehow,” Con adds, making the women laugh harder.

“I used to break into the men’s rooms and clean them when I was nesting. It drove them crazy. I had no boundaries,” Faye says, tone amused.

“Had?” Mom asks, smirking.

Faye laughs. “But you know what? The men were there for me, and they loved Clover so much. They still do. And everyone will love your baby just as much.”

Con smiles, happiness in her brown eyes. “I think that sounds pretty wonderful.”

“You need to be strong, though, Con. Hold your ground. Trust your gut. This life isn’t for the faint of heart. You have to learn how to read people,” Mom says.

“What do you mean?” Con asks, genuinely taking in all that these three powerhouses have to offer.
