Page 85 of Such A Bad Girl
Kaylee and Violet sat by the fireplace, the air thick with tension.
“This is such bullshit,” West growled. “I’m going to kick both their asses when we find them.”
“Yeah, you said that already,” I replied. “West, you need to get over yourself.”
“Excuse me?” He asked. God, he still talked to me like I was a kid still. I was so done with it.
“West, why are you so upset?”
“Because Theo keeps fucking up! We wouldn’t be in any of this mess if he had just come clean and told me the truth when we were kids.”
“We both lied,” I reminded him. “Why aren’t you mad at me?”
“Maybe I am,” he admitted.
“The person you should be mad at is dead,” Kaylee said gently. We looked over at her. “Avett is the cause of all this. Let’s make sure the blame stays there. Everleigh and Theo were just scared kids.”
I flashed her a look of gratitude, tears springing to my eyes. I’d been guilty of blaming myself many times over the years and I often forgot to remind myself that I was a victim.
West sighed, running a hand through his hair. He looked over at me and closed the distance between us, pulling me into his arms.
“She’s right, I’m sorry, Ev,” he mumbled.
West rarely apologized. I knew what it took for him to do that. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him back.
“It’s okay,” I said. “We’re all on edge.”
He pulled away and I looked up into his eyes.
“Theo told me last night that he told you we’re in love.”
“Yep,” he said.
“I love him, West. And he loves me. Don’t you want us to be happy? I’m sorry it’s such a shock, but I think Theo is a good man and will be good for me. It would mean a lot if you give us your blessing.”
His phone buzzed in his pocket and he pulled away from me, quickly removing his phone.
“Rian!” He shouted, as he switched the phone to speaker. “Where the fuck are you, man?”
“Hey, dude,” Rian’s sleepy voice filled my living room. “Sorry it took me so long to call back. I ended up at this model’s house last night. She and her roommates put on quite a party, West. It was fucking wild.” The sound of giggling in the background broke through the line.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” West growled. “Put Theo on the line.”
“Theo?” Rian said. “I think he’s in Santa Monica, right?”
My stomach churned, all my fears coming to the surface.
Had they really just been partying with models all night? Would Theo really do that after making love to me the way he had?
“Why would Theo be in Santa Monica, Rian?” West asked, shaking his head.
“Dude, I don’t know what’s going on. Theo sent me a pin of his location yesterday, in the middle of the night, actually. I guess I lost track of time. There was no other message. I didn’t think much of it. Like, I said, I was elbow deep in pussy over here…”
“You irresponsible prick!” West roared.
“Dude, what the fuck!”
West’s eyes crashed into mine, both of us realizing now that something was truly wrong.
