“Are you okay?” he asked, tilting his head.

“Yeah. So… You came with Weaver Seth?”

“I did.”

I rubbed the back of my head. “Erm…” Words struggled to take shape in my mouth.

Seth appeared, an arrogant smirk on his face. “Hello, Asher.”

Talk about a mood killer. “Alright, Seth?” We shook hands, the reluctance hardly a secret.

He inspected my suit. “Never seen you so well dressed.”

I folded my arms. “Thanks.”

“It wasn’t a compliment. Anyway, honey. Shall we?” He directed Luke away from me without a goodbye.

Honey? Someone pass the sick bucket.

Luke glanced back, locking eyes with me for a moment.

Now I sounded as arrogant as Seth.

Whatever.

Luke

Strange warmth licked across my skin after my encounter with Asher.

What the hell?

I spotted him again, talking to a couple of famous women. Laughing, sparkling, exuding pure handsomeness.

He was muscular, as gargoyles tended to be, his suit designed to show off his body. Raven-black hair streaked with metallic silver, his smoldering eyes liquid amber. A crescent-shaped scar cut across his left eye, adding to his sex appeal. Those plump, juicy lips surrounded by a dusting of stubble were, well, delicious. And that cheeky twinkle in his pupils quickened my pulse to no end.

Wow.

There were plenty of wet-dream gargoyles in the world, but none made me feel quite so tingly.

What was wrong with me?

I shook off the tingles.

“What’s the matter?” Seth asked, taking me by the hands. “Are you sick?”

I shook my head, Asher now out of sight.

Probably a good thing.

“Let’s go to the bathroom,” he said.

“Why?”
