Page 7 of The Mayor's Surrender

“That’s a great idea.” I reach up behind me, tap on the divider, and tell the driver that we’re stopping at the Mayor’s residence first. As his assistant, I’ve been there multiple times, so no one would think twice about my command.

“Have you spoken to your father?” he asks. I lift my head with a start.

“Um…no. I haven’t heard from him in a long time, but it’s for the best.” We never speak about my father. In the two years of working together, all conversations regarding our private lives have been off the table besides Honey, but that’s because she sometimes shows up at Town Hall. Also, he stops by her shop at times to bring me some honey-flavored goodies she sends with him.

“Maybe you should try again.” I’m about to tell him I can’t go there again when my private phone vibrates in my pocket. I slide it out just enough to see the caller. It’s this guy in town that wants to go out with me. He’s nice, but my heart belongs to the mayor, who has no interest in me and would never. My neighbor gave him my number when she tried to set us up on a date.

“You can take the call. It might be important.” Given the severity of the weather, I suppose he has a point.

I nod and answer, “Hello, Bryan.”

“Hi, Taylor. Are you still in town?” he asks, sounding breathless.

“Yes, I am. I’m working right now.” Mayor Payne hasn’t taken his eyes off me, and he’s glaring. “Can I call you later?”

“Of course, I know you’re busy, but I hope you get out of work and somewhere safe soon.”

“I will.”

“Are you supposed to be dating?”

“I’m an adult now.”

“Oh, I forgot,” he grumbles. “You’re so fucking young.”

We fall into an uncomfortable silence, but I’m sure he’s going to do the same shit he does to Honey. She’s not allowed to date anyone because he’s always lurking, and no one is good enough for his little sister. If he gives me an attitude about Bryan, I might actually say yes to dinner with Bryan.

We arrive at his house, and I say, “I’ll wait in the SUV and make some calls.”

“Personal or business?” His thick, sexy brows raise. I think he’s kidding, but he has the audacity to wait for a response.

With a snide tone, I reply, “Business, of course.”

“I’ll be right back.” It’s more of a warning than a polite gesture.

Chapter Three

Brooks

Who the fuck is this Bryan asshole, and why the hell was she afraid to take his call while in front of me, especially on her private phone?

It took all of my strength to not rip the phone out of her hand and tell the fucker that I would kill him if he called her again. She sure isn’t going to call him later if I get my way. It irked me how she smiled as if he could see her face. There was no doubt I could see her gorgeous lips curving upward for this fucktard. He didn’t deserve her.

I storm into my home, seething with pure jealousy. She’s fucking dating some asshole this whole time, but how could she? I keep her as insanely busy as I can. Most days, she doesn’t leave the office until seven. She attends every speaking engagement with me and every event as my assistant.

Who the fuck is this Bryan? I think to myself as I rush up to my bedroom and grab a suit since I’m done getting filthy for the day unless it’s with Taylor under me. Groaning, I picture her with this faceless bastard. Mentally, I try to remember any Bryans that live around town. There are several, but I can’t put a face to a name because they aren’t in my day-to-day life.

I managed to shower and get dressed in a new suit within fifteen minutes, but I needed to get answers before heading back to the SUV. She can cool her heels in the vehicle and think about how pissed off I am. Taylor may not know it, but she doesn’t want to deal with me now. I’m on the verge of losing my mind and taking her up against the nearest surface, dropping her pants, and sticking my huge, fat cock between those thighs to show her who the fuck is the boss.

I log into my account and access the city records, pulling anyone named Bryan. I find all three fuckers. Two are married, and toss those out. The last piece of shit is twenty-three and works for the power company in town. Son of a bitch. I know exactly who he is, and she’s going to end up marrying that dick if I don’t do something about it. He’d been in my office last week while I was in a meeting. She had to oversee an electrical update.

I pace around my office, thinking of what I can do. There’s got to be a way to keep them apart. Fuck, what am I saying? I can’t just go claim her. She’s a lot younger than me, and she’s my assistant, even though I want to bend her over every single hour of the day. Taylor makes me want to whip out my cock in the middle of meetings and push her under the desk to stuff it in her mouth to make dealing with them so much better. I’ve even pictured her sitting on my lap during conference calls, riding me, bouncing on my length while I try to pay attention.

Fuck, I press my hand to the thick length that’s stretching out my black suit pants, giving the meaty bastard a squeeze, hoping to calm it down. This isn’t the time to get hard. I have things to manage, and as mayor, my job comes first, not my lust for my assistant.

A rapid knock on my office door startles me, and I’m grateful as hell that I’d had the brains to lock the door before I came in here. “What is it?”

“Did you forget about me?” Taylor asks on the other side of the thick wood.
