Chapter Five
GABRIELLA-ROSE
I COULDN'T BELIEVE that it was actually May tenth. Today was the day I hoped to finally make my escape from this relationship that I had inadvertently gotten myself into. Vincent was away until Sunday, so I was able to get everything arranged for my weekend without having to worry about him checking everything. I was happy that it was just me here; it gave me time to relax and get ready myself. I knew that I would have someone doing my hair and makeup when I arrived, but I wanted to get myself clean and tidy first.
I had already spent the day at the beauty parlor yesterday, had all the necessities waxed and my nails done so they looked perfect. That was one thing that Vincent never complained about: my trips every two weeks to the salon. He liked me, along with his friends, to be completely void of hair everywhere – and I do mean everywhere. He also liked me to have nice nails, both on my hands and feet. I really didn’t know why, because we hadn’t slept together in months. The only men who ever got anywhere near me were Mikhail and his mob members. Occasionally, it would be one of the drug dealers that Vincent owed money to, but luckily they were few and far between.
I walked into my bedroom and laid out several different options of lingerie for the evening. I had considered wearing a leather corset to enhance my hourglass figure, but it was also very uncomfortable to wear and I remembered that Mikhail actually didn’t like it that much. He preferred a black bra and panties, with bare legs and high heels. Knowing that he was going to be there, I decided to go with that and packed it, along with a couple of other options just in case they were needed. I put a few clothing options together as well, just in case I was treated to a night out over the weekend, and zipped my bag up.
Turning to my wardrobe, I then decided to tackle the next problem: what to wear to the club. I knew I wouldn’t be in it for that long, but I wanted to make a good impression on the people there, along with my buyer when we left the club. I found the perfect dress with silver glitter over it. It hugged my figure perfectly and was again one of Mikhail’s favorites.
Much as I disliked the man, he had always treated me well. He was just getting what he could from Vincent for all the money he owed him, and unfortunately, I was the only thing that Vincent had to bargain with. Did I feel like a prostitute at times? Yes, but it was better than the beating I would receive if I didn’t go along with it.
By the time I had finished getting ready, it was nearly five-thirty in the evening. I knew it was nearly a thirty-minute drive to the club from Vincent’s apartment so it wouldn’t be too long before the car would arrive to pick me up. Deciding I would wait in the lobby for the car to arrive, I picked up my case and headed out of the door and into the elevator to go down to the lobby. I saw the car pulling up for me as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. I knew it was for me because it was the same driver who had taken me for my interview. I walked out of the building and was immediately greeted by a man I did not recognize.
“Good evening, Angel. I have been assigned to accompany you to the auction this evening. You can call me Jax. Allow me to take your bag for you.”
He took my small case, opened the door to the waiting car, and helped me inside, closing the door behind me. He placed my case in the trunk and got into the front of the car. We headed off toward the club and what I hoped would be the start of a new life.
WE ARRIVED OUTSIDE the club just before six in the evening. It looked dismal in the early evening light, and there was hardly anything to indicate that this was an exclusive club from the outside, just an entrance door with a light above it illuminating the door. Jax got out of the car, grabbed my bag from the trunk, and then opened my door for me, helping me out of the car. If there was one thing I had to say, it was that they treated their “merchandise” with respect and dignity.
We walked over to the door, and Jax placed a card against a keypad at the side. The door automatically unlocked and we headed inside to the lobby area, where we were greeted by a young lady.
“Good evening. Would you please take a number from this bowl? This will be your position in the auction this evening.”
I reached inside the glass bowl and pulled out one of the balls. I looked down to see that it was the number four. At least I would know my fate reasonably soon after the auction started. I passed it over to the young woman.
“Could I have your name, please, so I can update the auction list?”
“I believe you will have me down as Angel.”
“Thank you, Angel. If you would like to go into the elevator, you will be greeted by another one of the handlers downstairs.”
I took my bag from Jax, thanking both him and the young woman, and then headed into the elevator and down to the main floor of the club. As the doors opened, a young man wearing only a pair of purple boy shorts greeted me.
“Angel, welcome to Club Lust. If you would like to follow me?”
I had much time to see my surroundings as I followed the young man through the club. As I had walked off the elevator I noticed that the lobby was actually a bar area. Several members of staff were already behind the bar setting up. As we walked through the club, I could see leather armchairs with small tables next to them. I assumed this was where the prospective buyers would be sitting. There was some distance between each chair, which indicated that the buyers did not interact with each other, although there were a few with more than one chair, so I assumed that there was a possibility that I might be purchased by more than one person. Although that did scare me slightly, I remembered what Edward had told me.
“If you are asked to do something that is beyond your limits, you do not have to do it, no matter how much the buyer has paid.”
I just had to remember that when the time came.
As we continued through the main club area, I looked up and saw the stage that I would be paraded on. There was a runway on either side and a gray backdrop. I suddenly had a sinking feeling that everyone would be looking at me as I walked along the runway. I would be able to see their disapproving faces as I walked along. As if sensing my concern, the young man accompanying me spoke.
“The room will be totally dark, except for the stage, when the auction starts. So, although the buyers will be able to see you, you won’t be able to see them, if that is what you are worried about.”
I looked at the man in front of me. How did he know what I was thinking? I had never seen this guy before, so there was no way he would know me. I went to speak, but he continued.
“Nearly everyone that walks through that door is worried about the same thing. That is how I know what you are thinking. You will be fine, I am sure of it.”
I smiled sweetly at him as we continued on our way, through a door near the stage and along a corridor with rooms on either side. The young man opened a door to my right and walked in.
“This is Angel. She will be in auction position four. I will leave you with Scarlet, who will be helping you to get ready.”
“Thank you…”
Before I could ask his name to thank him properly, he walked out of the door and closed it behind him.
