We ate so much good food. Don’t sleep on cars land food, it's bangin’. Romeo loved meeting the characters, well, okay, it was Talon who was mostly excited to bring him to meet them. He got to take a picture with Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers, and I’m pretty sure he thought he was going to pass out. It was as if I had met Taylor Swift.
It’s about time for the fireworks when Rocky pulls me away because he wants to go see them from in front of Cinderella's Castle. He says it’s the best place to view them. He’s been here before so I trust him.
While we walk there, I’m amazed at everything lit up. I have been to Disney World, but never here. It’s so illuminating. We stop all of a sudden and when I look back at Rocky, I see him down on one knee.
I gasp and my hands fly to my mouth. I cannot believe this is happening right now. My heart is pounding, and I feel like if you stand close enough you can hear it. He’s smiling up at me, and in his hands, he has a little black box. When he opens it, I see a pear-shaped diamond ring with a halo of little diamonds around it in a rose gold, diamond encrusted band. It’s the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, and also very familiar to me because it was my mom’s.
“Montana, from the moment I saw you when we were younger, and then again, seeing you in college, I knew that you were the one for me. I’m so in love with you, and I thank God every day for you coming back into my life. The day I asked your parents and uncle Atlas permission to marry you he gave this ring. I asked him to meet me at your parents' gravesite so I can speak to them before he got there. I promise you today just like I promised them that I will always love and protect you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You have brought so much joy and love into my life that I didn’t realize what I was missing. You have given me the most beautiful son, and I can't wait to have more babies with you. I cannot wait to start this new journey. You’ll do amazing things in this life, and I want to be the one by your side through it all. I know I asked you once when we were little, but I’m asking again. Will you do me the honor of being my wife…will you marry me?”
Once he’s finished speaking, the floodgates are open and I'm nodding my head yes before the words come out. “Yes! I’ve wanted to say that to you for so long! I love you and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Thank fuck.”
He gets up and places the ring on my finger. He kisses the shit out of me, when he deepens the kiss, someone clears their throat.
“There are kids here you know.” Talon laughs out.
“She said yes!” he shouts.
All of our family and friends are right there taking pictures and cheering for us. They give us hugs and kisses and take a Polaroid of us and I’m holding out my left hand. He places my mom’s ring on my fourth finger and replaces the promise ring he gave me. Now that is three, he has given me.
“I kept my promise, baby. From when we were six and seven, and even with that promise ring,” he says smiling at me.
“Yeah, Savage, you did. I love you.”
“Por vida?”
“Por vida.”
He kept his promise.
I’m so happy with how much my life has changed. I didn’t think I could ever be this happy again. My angels have outdone themselves. I get to become Mrs. Montana Savage.
Wifey has a nice ring to it.

Epilogue
Three Years Later
Montana and I got married a year after I proposed. We had a small beach wedding in Havana Bay, North Carolina, in September. Her Uncle Atlas gave her away. When I saw her walk down the aisle, I was struck by how gorgeous she looked. She took my breath away in her bohemian lace dress, with a flower crown on her head.
Xander and Talon, and my cousin West were my groomsmen, and my dad was my best man. Marley and Autumn were her maids of honor. She couldn’t pick just one and they were happy to share the title. My mom held little Romeo while I married his beautiful mommy.
You might have guessed it but if not, we got married on the eighth. It was the perfect day—she had a little heart pendant attached to her flower bouquet with a picture of her parents. Every time I pass by our wedding photo that’s on the wall, I think back to that day.
I walk through the front door our home and I’m greeted by the comforting smell of her favorite lit candle, which makes me smile. The warmth of the scent reminds me of why I love Montana. The candle has witnessed all our memories, from our first kiss to the late nights we spent in our bed. It has comforted us during rainy nights and the hard days, leaving a lingering trail of smoke in the house when we blow it out at night. As I reminisce about our time together, I realize that despite all the arguments and misunderstandings, the candle continues to burn, a reminder that no matter what, we will keep burning together.
Walking through the house, I hear Romeo’s favorite movie in the background. Cars plays nonstop on the TV around here. Autumn is here with Montana, and I can tell by the smell that they are in the kitchen cooking empanadas and some other things Montana seems to be craving with this pregnancy. This time we are having a little girl. I hope she looks like her mama.
With Montana being halfway through her pregnancy, we moved out of our old apartment and bought a home in a gated community in Stillwater. We got to build it to make it our dream home. We made Romeo's room a little boy's paradise, but he can grow with it. Filled with hot wheels and nerf guns. They love to ambush me. Sometimes there’s a note with a nerf gun when I get home and sometimes, I have to find one.
Our daughter, Sailor Daisy Savage, will have a bedroom fit for a princess. The subtle cream and sage green colors match the bohemian style along with Montana's favorite plants that are all around gives the room a calming effect. Sometimes, I catch Montana in her room sitting in the rocking chair rubbing her belly humming Black Bird by the Beatles. I think she goes in there when she’s missing her parents the most.
Our forever home, with my family, is more than I could have ever imagined.
I hear Tow Mater telling Lighting McQueen something about going tractor tipping. Little Romeo’s laugh fills the room, and it brings an even bigger smile to my face.
