Page 65 of Sebastian's Secret
The one he’d found was his awakening.
“Can we go please?” Craning her neck, she met his eyes. “I don’t want to be here anymore.”
“Absolutely.” Kissing her temple, he guided her to the passenger seat before depositing her bag onto what constituted his back seat. “Are you ready?”
Buckling her belt, she rolled her shoulders back. “More than, sir.”
Checking his mirrors before he pulled away, Sebastian noticed how Rebecca never even glanced back.
“I stopped at a deli and bought you food.” Motioning to the space by her feet, he went on. “I know you’re hungry.”
“You bought food?” Her eyes lit up. “Thank goodness. I’m starving.”
“Help yourself.” Sebastian smiled as she tore into the sandwiches he had purchased.
“I don’t want to make a mess of your car,” she told him, clutching the bread. “But thank you.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He waved one hand dismissively. “I’ll have the car cleaned.”
A satisfied silence fell over the interior as she polished off the meal. Sebastian couldn’t recall anyone ever looking more alluring as they ate.
“What about you?” she asked between mouthfuls. “Are you hungry?”
“I ate on my way to you,” he informed her, grinning at the gratitude flashing in her eyes as she demolished the remainder.
“That was amazing.” Sighing, she folded the wrapping and pushed them back into the take-out bag. “Thank you again, sir.”
“You’re welcome.” An odd pride bloomed at her evident contentment. It was one thing to tease and pleasure her, but seeing her this way was even better. Sebastian wanted to take care of Rebecca. He’d never wanted anything more in his life.
“I meant it.” Her lowered tone seized his attention. “I don’t ever want to go back to that place.” Her eyes squeezed closed as she turned his way. “I’m sorry, Sebastian, I know it’s a lot to put on you when we barely even know each other, but—”
“Hey.” His hand slipped from the gear stick to hers. “No apologies. Not about this.” Enveloping her petite fingers, he squeezed lightly. “You’re welcome to stay with me for as long as you like.”
For-fucking-ever.
Resisting the urge to vocalize the final word, he glanced away toward the increasing traffic.
“But there’s so much we don’t know about each other.”
“Brilliant,” he replied. “The less I know, the more I can learn, and the more I learn, the more I adore.”
“Sebastian.” Rebecca smiled at him sadly. “This isn’t some fairy story. I might be falling in love with you, but that doesn’t mean that—”
“You’re what?” he interrupted, as his heart sped up in recognition. She had mentioned the ‘l’ word and he was heady in response.
“You heard me, sir,” she replied in the same seductive tone she had used on him before. “You know what I’m talking about.”
Yeah, Sebastian knew, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t enjoy toying with her. He would rescue Rebecca for eternity if that was what it took, but he would never tire of tormenting her for their mutual pleasure.
“I thought you said that you were falling in love with me?” Brow arching, he glanced at her with what was no doubt a conceited smirk.
“Don’t tease me,” she muttered through gritted teeth.
“Why not?” he pressed. “When it’s so much fun?”
She glanced his way with a laugh. “You’re mean, sir.”
“I agree with you.” From some distant place Sebastian swore he heard the sound of angels bugling. The woman he was crazy about was just as mad about him. Life didn’t get any better than this, and he was prepared to put in the work to ensure the details were ironed out to prove it.
