My, my, my. His cock swelled inside his pants as he held onto the lingering imagery. Her guttural gasp as she envisioned being speared by his erection, the way her ample breasts brushed his skin as she rode him. Dr. Lewis had a vivid and filthy imagination, but he was more than happy to help prime her for greater debauchery. Closing his eyes briefly, he pushed the heady fiction from his mind. Gods know he didn’t want to, but reality dictated that he must. Now that he was aware of Eden’s interest, there would be time to nurture that lust, but tonight was not that time. She had a job to do, and as for Cole, he had a lot to process before his appointment. Leaning closer to where she was sitting, he broke the silence.

“I should let you get going.” He offered what he hoped was a reassuring smile, conscious that even though he hadn’t meant to invade her privacy, he had ripped right through her rights with the sudden telepathic connection. For the rest of their encounter that night, he vowed to stay out of her head. Cole had seen more than enough to know where Dr. Lewis’s head was. “I’m sure I’m not your only appointment tomorrow.”

“No.” She nodded, turning her gaze from him to the road. “You’re right. I should go.”

“Drive safely.”

Cole recalled his words to her when he straightened to his full height and cast his eyes over the dark sky.

It was the same black sky he looked upon now, as still he stood on the roadside, clutching his shirt in his hand.

“Just as well I don’t feel the cold like regular people.” He half-smiled at the observation, grateful once more for his shifter gene-pool as the sound of an engine captured his concentration. Glancing at the way he’d walked, he saw the now familiar sight of headlights coming toward him, their size growing as the vehicle neared. “Here we go again.”

Reaching for his phone, he flicked on the torch and waved the illumination around to let the driver know he was there and encourage more care. Moving to the edge of the road, he started walking, aware of the engine noise growing louder as the car approached. Once more he expected the vehicle to go whizzing past him, but once again, he noticed it slowing as it neared.

“Who is it this time?” His tone was mocking as he flicked off his torch. “Has Eden driven a circuit and come back for more?”

Intrigued by the prospect, he paused as the car pulled up beside him. It only took a second to acknowledge it was a taxi.

How long have I been out here? Clearly, if the cabs had shown up then it was later than Cole had realized.

“You’re fine, thanks,” he told the driver as the window lowered. “I don’t need a ride.”

“My passenger insists.” The driver looked amused as he signaled to the back of the car and glancing in that direction, Cole noticed the rear window was also open.

“Thanks for the thought,” he told them. “But I’m okay.”

“You’re bloody not.”

Cole’s pulse accelerated at the reply. That was a voice he definitely recognized—it belonged to his brother, Draco.

“You left an hour ago and you’re still loitering on the road! Get in.”

“Draco?” Cole stretched to look inside the car to see his sibling. “I thought you were sticking around and looking for some hot sex?”

“And I thought you were leaving?” he retorted in characteristic custom.

“Right.” Cole couldn’t help but smirk at the irony that neither of their goals had worked out the way they’d expected. “I guess we both had a change of plans.”

“I’m waiting,” Draco huffed. “And this thing is on the meter. Get. In.”

Not immune to arguing with his brothers, Cole considered denying the request, but decided there was little point.

“Fine.” Cole sighed as he opened the rear door and slid inside.

After so long pondering what had taken place on the dark road, he had little enthusiasm for either a walk or a flight.
