Gazing into his ocean eyes, she could hardly remember why she was concerned. Only the tugging silk at her wrist reminded her.

“So, we do this.” He gestured around the room, as though it was the space that was about to hand out her so-called punishment. “And you understand this much about me—I might have brought women back here, but I’ve never wanted one to stay before. I want to spend time with you, Moira, want to get to know you, but I won’t abide flagrant disregard for your own wellbeing.”

“Okay.” Her gaze fell to the bed in front of her. “Sir.”

Was it okay? She could scarcely keep stock of what was taking place, her vulnerability now wrestling with her spiraling feelings for Draco.

Draco, this man she’d only just met.

The same man who she was allowing to physically rebuke her because, let’s be honest, she reveled in his show of authority. What was happening to her?

“Okay?” He sounded unsure, having no doubt just read her mind. Is it possible to get used to a man who can hear my every personal thought? “What does that mean?”

“It means I understand your position.” It was an ironic thing to say when she was bound to a stranger’s bed. If anyone was in a ‘position,’ it was most definitely Moira. “I now realize where you’re coming from, sir.”

“Which means?” He squeezed one of her ass cheeks, making her wince. “Will you try and run when this spanking is over?”

What was that in his voice? Emotion?

“No, sir,” she croaked, processing the sudden physical hurt. “I want to stay and be safe. I’m just not used to being treated this way.”

That was an understatement.

“I understand.” His free hand snaked around her middle as his lips pressed into the side of her neck. “This is new... for both of us.”

“What is this?” She turned toward him, gasping as his mouth nibbled her ear lobe. “Are we in a relationship now?”

“Is that what you want?” he murmured.

“Is it what you want, sir?” For one lengthened moment, their gazes locked, the question rattling between them.

“For the first time in my life, the answer might be yes.” The glimmer in his gaze suggested how shocking Draco found that reality. “There’s something about you, little girl.” His hand rose to her breast, cradling the mound as his breathy reply continued. “I have to have more, have to know you.”

I like the sound of that. Her lips curled as his hot breath tickled her nape.

“What do you think?” He drew away, her body bereft by the sudden loss of him. “Can you live with that?”

“I think we should try, sir.” Peering around, she caught sight of his bright blue eyes. “I’d like that.”

“Me, too.” The chemistry between them sizzled as they accepted their burgeoning feelings.

It had all happened so fast, yet neither of them wanted to fight the change.

“So.” His voice hardened as he ran a palm from her shoulder, down to her exposed ass. “To your spanking.”

“Yes, sir.” Her back arched at his touch, her yearning growing even though she knew there would be pain to come.

The need to surrender to him was absurd, knowing the spanking would likely hurt like hell, but knowing she’d submit regardless. None of her years of education had prepared her for the paradox. Nothing could have readied her for a man who was half-human and half-dragon.

“I think we should press on.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Legs apart then.” He tapped her hips lightly until she wiggled her ankles farther apart. “Better.”

She gasped as he spread her cheeks apart, inspecting the parts of her that few had even noticed before.

“I promised you it would be hard and I meant it, but I’m also aware of the time.” His lips brushed her cooling skin while his hands roughly massaged her orbs. “My family needs me, so that means we can’t stay here and satiate all of my needs.”
