“Yes,” Draco agreed. “And?”
“I remember you telling me you were going to find one of those for Dad’s contract.”
He could hear the smile in Cole’s voice. “Yeah,” Draco answered. “And I did.”
He’d certainly got far more than he bargained for when he’d bumped into Moira, but no part of him was sorry they’d met. Finally, there was a woman with the potential to give him everything he wanted. Draco wasn’t going to let that chance slip away. The problem with Monroe was only a short-term distraction from the passion they created together.
“And?” Cole prompted.
“And what?”
“Did you get the contract sorted out?” Cole sighed.
“We will.” Draco had no way of knowing that. He hadn’t heard a word that Moira had to say on the subject yet, but somehow, he had faith. If anyone could find him a loophole out of Michael’s paperwork, it would be Moira. “But let’s just say we’ve been rather busy since we met. Work has taken a backseat.”
Her grin appeared in his peripheral vision, but she neither confirmed, nor denied his version of things.
“Oh, I see.” Cole’s chuckle deepened. “Fair enough. I look forward to meeting her.”
“Well, you don’t have long.” Draco glanced up at the street sign as they cruised past. “We’ll be with you in five minutes.”
Chapter Twenty-Four
Moira
“ARE ALL OF YOUR PROPERTIES so...” Pausing, Moira searched for the right word as he pulled into the underground parking lot. “Spectacular?”
“I suppose so.” Bringing the car to a halt, he turned to her. “I guess I take it for granted these days.”
“Well, you really shouldn’t.” Peering out of the window, she glanced around as if the car park was something special. “This place is like yours.”
“It’s totally different inside,” Draco assured her. He’d never liked the townhouse. That was one of the reasons he’d not fought Sebastian for it.
“But still lovely, I bet?” She smiled, shifting to face him before remembering her sore ass and wincing at the hurt.
“The place is full of Sebastian’s art work.” Draco resisted the urge to comment on her pained expression. They both knew the reasons for it, and he hoped that every time she remembered, she’d recall why it had been necessary. “It’s okay if you like that sort of thing.”
“But you don’t?” she smirked at his disapproval.
“Not especially.” Stepping out from his seat, he tugged down his lapels before closing his door and wandering around to open Moira’s. “Here.”
“Thank you.” Taking the hand he offered her, she climbed out of the car, smoothing down her skirt as he locked the car.
Now he wants to be a gentleman? Her twisting lips demonstrated how amusing she found the comparison between the man holding the door for her and the one who’d been happy to spank her backside into submission.
“I know this is a bit weird.” He ignored her thought.
“What is?’ She gazed up at him. Weird doesn’t even come close! Where are we? Who are his brothers, and when will I get to see this elusive dragon?
“Being here.” He dug one hand into his pocket as he used the other to tug her closer. “Meeting my family after such a short period of time.”
“Yeah.” She inhaled. “That is weird.”
“It’s not the way I would have wanted things,” he explained. “I would love to keep you all to myself, but this mess with Monroe needs permanent resolution.”
“Permanent resolution?” What the fuck does that mean?
“Maybe best you don’t know.” This time he responded directly to her unspoken question. “You are a lawyer, after all.”
