“Keep looking this goddamn delicious, and I just might quit, anyway.”

I know he’s only joking, but it sounds like there’s a hint of truth in those words.

Either that or I’m delulu.

Before I get to overthink it, Mason backs off and finishes getting dressed. “Is that what a nest would be like?”

It takes me a second to realize he’s asking about what’s in the smutty omegaverse novels I like. “Yeah,” I say, curling up in the puffy pillows and soft blankets. “But add more blankets and creature comforts.”

“Like snacks and fuzzy socks?”

“Whatever makes her happy.”

Mason nods, as if he’s making a mental note, and then crawls into bed to kiss me goodbye. “I’m really sorry I have to leave.”

“Don’t be.”

“I feel like a prick.”

“Why?”

“I lure you here, then abandon you.”

“Someone’s gotta make that money, baby.” Speaking of which, I really need to log into my account and upload new material, or my patrons are going to get cranky.

Ugh, the thought of being Daisy Ren while I’m with Mason feels wrong on so many levels.

“Hey.” He tips my chin with his finger. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” I play it off. “Why would you think something’s wrong?”

“You get this extra crinkle in your forehead sometimes.”

I do not. “Nothing’s wrong, I swear.” The last thing I want is for Mason to leave the hotel room with any guilt, especially since I know he’s already feeling bad that he’ll be gone all day. “Get to work, Big Tech Daddy. Go forth and…” I wiggle my fingers, “make big security firewall cookies.”

His laughter hits me in the chest.

We kiss goodbye again and he reluctantly leaves. Being with Mason is so easy. We have great chemistry, the sex it off the charts, and I don’t feel like a disappointment around him.

And I’m not fake.

Just as I’m basking in post-orgasm bliss, my cell dings with a text.

Mason: Use that tub and bed to make some video content for Daisy Ren if you’d like. Give them something to hate me for.

That last bit throws me off.

Leah: Why would they hate you?

Mason: Because you’re mine, Princess. And soon enough, everyone will know it.

My heart slips and falls on its ass.

Leah: Oh yeah? Going public, are we?

There’s no way that will happen. I’ll lose my job and what’s worse is he’ll be the laughingstock of the fancy pants richy-rich society he’s in. It’s too much to risk.

Although we’re risking it right now, aren’t we?
