I’ve never been as happy as I am right now. To be with the only two people who have ever liked me for me and not what benefitted them.

Slipping into the VIP parking, I get out and head around to the front of the club. I bypass all the people waiting in line. A few girls give me dirty looks and one shouts at me to get in line.

“Hey, Rodger.” I grin at the bouncer.

“Mrs. Ward.” He smiles, nodding his head and lifting the rope to let me in.

“Why the hell does she get to skip the line?” a girl grumbles.

I look at her over my shoulder and wink. “Perks of being the owner’s wife.” Then I head inside.

The music is loud but the atmosphere is amazing. Zack is really big on making sure all the guests feel safe and have a good time. Anyone who gets too handsy, no matter what your status is in the world, is asked to leave.

I beeline for the bar where I know my girl is working.

“Kimmy, hey.” Hailey, one of the bartenders greets me when I take a seat.

“Hey.” I smile back.

“What can I get you?”

“Rum and coke, please. Is Cora around?”

“She should be around here somewhere.” She looks around and frowns before smiling. “I just remembered, she’s on her break. But she should be back soon.”

“Thanks.” I give her a hundred dollar bill for a ten dollar drink. Her eyes widen slightly before she takes the bill off the bar top. I give her a wink before taking a sip. “How has tonight been?”

“Not bad. A few assholes that were taken care of right away. Overall, everyone is having a good time. Very busy tonight, though.”

“‘I saw the line outside. Is it normally that long?”

“On the weekend, oh yeah.” she laughs. “We’ve had to set a rule in place that if you leave the club, you have to go to theback of the line otherwise not everyone will get in. There’s been a few times we’ve been near capacity.”

I smile, loving the fact that my husband’s club is doing so well. He’s so damn good at what he does, and I’m proud of him. He is a hard worker and an amazing man, how did I get so lucky?

I knew he was mine years before he did. And I’m glad he got his head out of his ass and saw it too.

About five minutes later, Cora comes back behind the bar, with Trenton behind her. I frown, as a wave of jealousy hits me.

He says something to her, grinning wide, and she laughs. My hand tightens around my glass. Is it fucked up that I hate that someone who isn’t me or Zack is making her happy?

Cora has been so alone for so long. She deserves the world and all the friends she wants. I’m happy for her, but also my eyes are seeing nothing but green as Trenton puts his hand on her arm.

We haven’t told anyone we’re together because of the fact that our lives are in the spotlight a lot of the time. If the press got a hold of our unique relationship dynamic, it would get a lot of attention, and we’re not sure if Cora can handle it. We’ve lived this life for most of our lives, we’re used to it; Cora isn’t.

The idea of anyone saying anything negative about her doesn’t sit right with Zack and I.

We’ve talked about it, what we’re going to tell people. First we’re going to talk to our families and go from there. Zack and I hate the toxic ways of our society. We just want to keep her from it as long as we can.

“Cora.” I wave, getting her attention. My heart does this little flip when I see her eyes light up and a smile takes over her beautiful face.

“Kimmy. What are you doing here?” she asks.

“I came to see you.” I give her a coy smile. Even under these lights, I can see the blush that creeps into her cheeks.

“You were bored, weren't you?” she laughs.

“Maybe a little bit.” I chuckle. “But, I also wanted to tell you some exciting news.”
