“Cyborgs?” Mika’s voice turned into a shuddering panic as she said the word, “You’re being held by the cyborgs? Oh, God, Amy, no!”

“Mika, it’s okay,” She said, frowning at the reaction of her friend, “I’m okay. They’re good people, I swear.”

“No! I know the cyborg that comes down here sometimes. He’s… He’s a monster, Amy.”

Her suspicions were correct. It had been a cyborg that took her from the medical unit. But who, and why? Why would a cyborg be working with the Korok?

“Mika, I promise you that the one you saw is nothing like the others. I have no idea why he’s here or why he would be working with the Korok, but he’s a traitor to the Iron Warriors. Cane and Cole will find me, and when they do, I will prove to you that they are the good guys.”

Mika’s quiet sobs filled the space as Amy tried to figure out what the hell she was going to do now. Without her symbiotes or Emi and Tope she was left to figure a way out for all of them on her own.

First, she needed to wait until Sam and Rachel were brought back. Then, they would get the hell out of this prison and back to the men she loved.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Cane howled in rage as another wave of Korok soldiers poured over the far wall of the compound. His vision hazed over with a red tint, the wrath of the symbiotes amplifying his own anger.

Dozens of warriors battled around him, many still dirty and hurt from the explosion. He caught sight of Cole fighting with Dio and Lace as a small group of the soldiers broke away and ran for them.

Cole! Cane warned, seeing his brother hadn’t noticed the approaching threat.

Cole spun, his face covered by the black symbiote and snarled at the soldiers. Cane grinned in satisfaction when he saw the soldiers slow as they approached unsure of what they were looking at.

Tope roared out a battle cry, pouncing on the group and shredding them with his powerful claws and fangs.

Emi stood beside Cane; her body covered in the Korok’s blood as she growled at the males jumping over the wall.

More warriors came running around the large residential building, their weapons extended and ready to fight. When he saw Iron step around the corner, his face streaked with dry blood and a furious look burning in his glowing red eyes, he knew this battle would be over soon.

For all the respect Iron received as the leader and commander of the militia, he was a hardened battle warrior with his own skills in killing.

Turning back to the approaching force, Cane tensed his body and waited. Heaving in deep breaths, he could feel the power of the symbiote racing through his veins as they poured their own anger into him.

Once they were close enough, Cane allowed Maku to take over the fight, his body moving in ways he never thought possible.

Leaping into the air, Cane came down on the first group of soldiers, the suit over his body morphing into long, sharp blades that shot out around him, cutting down the five soldiers that surrounded him. Without stopping to watch them fall to the ground, Cane raced forward, the glowing hot blade of his synthetic arm now pulsing with the power of the symbiotes, cut through the Korok with an ease unlike he had ever seen before.

After the next few were taken down, Cane turned to scan the gardens around him. The soft grass was littered with the dead, their dark blood staining the walls, trees, and delicate flowers around them.

He looked over to where he had seen Cole, only to find his brother assessing the scene around them as well.

Lace and Dio stood close by, their bodies covered in gashes, with dark purple bruises forming on their skin, but they too looked fine.

Iron came to him, his black suit moving off his face and his blade retracting, “Are you alright?”

Cane nodded, sending Maku a mental command to reveal his face.

“This is war, Iron,” Cane said, taking in the devastation to their home.

“Yes. It is time to end the Korok once and for all.”

“Are you alright?” Cane asked as he took in the way Iron cradled his side.

“I will be. My symbiote is healing the broken ribs and my nano healing is tending to the internal injuries.”

“How many dead?” Cane asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

Iron shook his head, his face falling as he said, “Six warriors dead from the blast in the hall, nine critically injured. We also found three dead females in the residential building, and the one in the hall.”
