“Daniel… you know that’s not why I said yes to being your girlfriend, right? I have a job. I have my own money.”

“I know that. But I have a lot of money, and I want to do this for you. Unless you’re actually saying no, in which case, I will respect that and we can go back into Philly and get your stuff.”

I scrunch my face up, squeezing my eyes shut. Traffic into Philly right now is going to be the fucking pits on the bridge, and we both know it. I believe him, though, that he would drive me in if that’s what I said I wanted.

I have a feeling he would give me whatever I wanted if he could.

If I just asked.

I have a feeling he meant it when he said he was in love with me.

I wish I knew how I felt about it all.

“Fine.” I exhale, and it’s long and loud.

He looks alarmed, his eyebrows raised. “You say that like getting some new clothes is a prison sentence.”

I suck in another breath, holding it as I try to collect my scattered thoughts.

“I’m just… You have to understand, I’m not used to this. Not just having a boyfriend, but having a boyfriend who wants to, er, pamper me. It makes me nervous.”

His eyes turn sad and he immediately walks over to me, pressing his hands against my cheeks. “You have no reason to be nervous, Kelsey. I’m not going anywhere. Well, other than to get you some appropriate apple-picking clothes. If you wear that fucking dress without panties, I’m going to get arrested for indecency.”

I laugh, then nod. He catches my mouth in a hot, insistent kiss, and I groan before pushing him away.

“Fine then,” I say, and this time it’s with a smile. “Spoil me.”

His gaze takes on a slightly wicked glint, and I hope I haven’t just made a mistake.

By the time I get done in the shower, the entire bathroom’s fogged up. Which, frankly, is incredible, considering the bathroom is humongous. Oops.

I didn’t mean to take that long.

But my muscles were sore as hell from last night, and the hot water felt so freaking good. A little flutter of happiness works through me as I dry off with one of the oversized fluffy towels. It’s as soft as a cloud, and like everything else about Daniel’s house, it screams expensive.

A knock sounds at the door.

“Hey,” Daniel calls. “I have a few things for you. The women at the store helped me. I’m going to hop in the shower while you get dressed and then we can go pick apples to our heart’s delight.”

I open it, and some of the steam drifts out the crack as he walks through it.

“Our heart’s delight, huh?”

His gaze turns hot as he devours me, and I clutch the towel around me tighter.

“Well,” he drags out the word. “Your heart’s delight. Mine’s right here, naked except for a towel.”

I shake my head and roll my eyes, my stomach exploding into happy butterflies that seem to have taken up residence there. I should probably get that looked at.

“Go shower,” I tell him. “You smell like sex.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” he says smoothly. “I’d kiss you but I’m afraid it will turn into me making you scream my name over and over again, and I know you’re ready for apples.”

I snort, then dance past his grabby hands.

He’s laughing as the door closes behind him, and I hear the shower start up again not long after.

There are six huge paper bags on the floor.
