I’d say anything in this moment. “It’s yours. Keep going!”
“You. Are. Mine.”
I shouted the words, “I’m fucking yours, asshole. Get your mouth where it belongs.”
Wild dipped down, holding my gaze as he dragged the very tip of his tongue up with the lightest, most excruciating touch. “My mouth does belong here, my queen. Something you seemed in doubt of. You’ve angered me, and so you’ll earn my forgiveness before you get what you want.”
I thumped my head against the wall. “Please touch me.”
He chuckled darkly against my thigh. “First I will drink my fill of you.” He inhaled between my thighs. “My queen is delicious.”
I pressed my pelvis forward for more contact, voicing a growl of my own when I didn’t get what I wanted. My hooded focus locked with his dark eyes once more.
“Better hold on, darling,” Wild said. “He means it.”
Ah, fuck.
He was going to make me pay.
I wanted every bit of it.

I slipped out of Wild’s room, leaving him fast asleep in the middle of the bed. Dawn hadn’t broken, and I was grateful for the empty tunnels.
What the hell happened last night?
Wonder shook my memories. I mean, I knew what happened. Wild had given me the most excruciatingly incredible orgasm of my life after denying me for at least an hour. Then he’d done it again. And again.
The only reason I wasn’t hobbling was because he’d drawn me a bath after, pouring in a blend from his kit. We’d fallen asleep together.
Fuck.
I couldn’t go twenty-four hours without my path changing, and it had changed yet again along with an altering in the feeling between me and Wild. We’d forged something real amid everything not real.
I didn’t want what was happening with Wild to feel real right now. My heart still knew that if I didn’t believe in all we shared, there wouldn’t ever be an us. I’d taken a necessary step last night to save his life, but that step had left my insides quailing today.
I was out in the moss forest before dawn broke, already calling in my affinities. Already searching for the latest road in the map book that was my life.
And once I’d recentered, I had a new direction.
Wild had knocked down a few walls last night, and that had yielded unexpected results. I hadn’t wanted to involve him nor the quad in my demon-expelling plans. Now I knew I couldn’t. Wild nearly died because I’d denied the mating ritual. If he gleaned that I intended to sever things completely…
I knocked on Rooke’s door, then winced. Sven might be in there.
The door swung wide, and my fully dressed cousin stood there. “You okay?”
“Could we talk for a sec?” I asked.
“Of course.” She stepped back.
“Miss Corentine!”
I turned at the call from down the tunnel. “Winona, hey.”
“I’m glad to catch you,” the councilwoman said, smiling.
The smile was genuine. I’d warmed to Winona after seeing her chambers, and for whatever reason, she seemed to have relaxed with me too.
