It’s not meant to be. I don’t know why he’s like this, nor do I think anyone can change him. He will do it when he is with the right person.

That isn’t me.

After releasing a shuddery breath, I shake everything off. There are things to do. I don’t need a man. And I don’t need meaningless sex. The sad part about it is, I won’t even need to speak to Ciro to tell him it’s done.

That thought makes me sad again, but I push that back and throw my things into my bag. My car service is twenty-four hours, so I make the call and head downstairs to wait.

Tomorrow will be better. I’ve danced out my frustration. At least I can rely on that.

I shriek and pull Megan up, giving her a long hug after she tells me her news.

“Did Elvis perform the ceremony?” I ask gleefully at the thought as I step back.

“No! Joey planned everything without telling me.”

“Oh my God, I can’t believe he did that. You had no idea?”

“No,” she laughs. “He proposed to me before the fight. I didn’t know the actual wedding would be a couple of days after.”

“Wait until Jenna hears this,” I laugh. “Even I have to admit, that is romantic as shit. I’m happy for you. Both of you.” I squeeze her hand, then go back to my seat. “Show me pictures.”

Megan smiles and scrolls through her phone. I keep my smile in place. I’m happy for her. Despite the sinking sensation in my gut, I don’t want to take away her joy.

Joey looks dapper in his tuxedo, stretched across his chest and shoulders. There are bruises on his cheek and jaw from his fight. It doesn’t matter to him though, he’s smiling at Megan.

Megan looks stunning. “How did you get the dress so fast if you didn’t know about it?”

“He had that all planned, too. A dress shop brought five dresses to my hotel room to choose from.”

Even my icy heart melts at that. It’s like something out of a movie. “You chose well,” I smile. “Megan, you look breathtaking. Both of you. I’d have flown out if you told me about it.”

“Would you?” she cocks her head, giving me a knowing stare.

“Okay, maybe I couldn’t. But you didn’t ask.”

Megan rolls her eyes but doesn’t lose the smile. “The only people there were the preacher and two witnesses. We’re going to have a gathering with friends and family when Joey’s schedule lets up.”

“Have you told Jenna yet?”

“No, there hasn’t been time.”

“May I?”

She waves a hand at me to go ahead. I pull out my phone and video call Jenna. Megan continues looking at her wedding pictures, a loved up, serene smile on her lips. Jen’s romance loving heart will burst.

“Hi,” Jenna answers the call wearing a bikini and lying on a sun lounger.

“You make me sick.”

“Don’t hate, Brooke.” She sips a margarita and blows me a kiss. “What’s up?”

“Are you at Adam’s?”

“Yep, he has a couple of days in LA after their last show last night. Nick and Elsa are coming over soon for breakfast.”

“Well, I have some news for you.”

“What kind of news?”
