I read his notes. There is one line he’s highlighted that I don’t want to change, ‘you’re the ghost in my head.’ I say I want to keep it, and he looks at it again, then nods in agreement.

“I’m hearing it heavy.” Adam taps his fingers against the table top a few times in quick succession.

“Yeah, this was never gonna be a ballad,” I agree, slipping my sunglasses on.

“We definitely have space for a drum solo,” he grins. Jordan will be happy with that.

“When have we got to head back to New York?” I ask.

“Flight is tomorrow night,” he frowns. “You’re usually the one telling us.” I nod but say nothing. “We’re shooting the video for Second Chances on Thursday and Friday, then Jen and I are heading up to White Plains. Keira finished the dress, so Jen is having a last fitting.”

“And you’re allowed to go?” my eyes widen. Jenna is a traditional romantic.

“Not a chance,” Adam laughs. “I’m gonna hang out with Dad while they do whatever it is women do at those things. We’re gonna go out to the city afterwards. I’ve reserved the private space at Flux. Mom is looking after Jake, so Keira is coming along. You gonna come?”

“Who else is coming?”

“Jenna has invited all the girls, and Nick will come, obviously.”

“Obviously.”

“Not sure if Jordan is around or if he’ll have gone with Red Alert by the weekend. He’s meeting them in Des Moines before we head out.”

“Why is he always bothering her when she’s on tour?”

Adam gives me a look. Jordan is a completely different person to who he was a year ago. At first I’d been pissed I lost my wingman, but I like the new mellow, not spending all his time getting into trouble, Jordan. Now, he bothers Alessa. I don’t know how she puts up with him half the time.

Going out this weekend might be good for me, take my mind off shit.

By all the girls, Adam means Jenna’s bridal party. Keira, Elsa, Megan. And Brooke.

The first time I met Jenna’s best friend, I pretended I wasn’t fucking tongue tied. It isn’t often I got stunned into silence by a woman. Brooke has that whole high powered, take no bullshit, sexy as fuck vibe about her.

She’s beautiful, no doubt about it. Her dark hair has grown out a lot since we first met and now reaches down to the middle of her back. The sleek shoulder-length bob she rocked was hot on her, but long hair has always been a thing for me.

When she is around us, she lets the whole ball busting guard down. She still has a cutting tongue and a glare that scares off even the most confident of men. I like that about her. Women who know what they want and aren’t afraid to ask for it are sexy to me. I’d spent most of that first night sneaking glances at her. So much so, people noticed.

Jenna was eager to introduce us and get us talking. I saw the look on my best friend’s face the minute that happened. Adam didn’t want me hooking up with his girl’s best friend and ruining shit for him. I respected that and didn’t hit on her. No matter how much I wanted to get to know every inch of Brooke.

Right now, women are the last thing on my mind. Especially that business minded, independent, ball busting kind of woman. It reminds me too much of Madison. Not that Brooke and Madison are alike. I can’t imagine Brooke being as heartless as that bitch.

I shake myself out of those thoughts before they turn dark, and it shows on my face. “Did you get everything finalised on the island?” I ask.

“Yeah, it’s all good.”

The wedding has been stressing both of them out. Especially arranging it in the middle of the tour. Most of it is being dealt with by planners, but there are things Jenna wanted to handle. Some of the decision making has been difficult for her. Which dragged Adam in because he wants her to be happy.

I’m pretty sure Adam wanted it to be the two of them. Jenna is one of those women who’s dreamt about her wedding day since she was a little girl, so her ideas differ from his. She knows the life she is getting into with Adam and the typical wedding won’t happen for them.

When she suggested a beach wedding because it would be romantic and intimate, Adam ran with it. To the fucking extreme.

He hired a private island in the Seychelles and is flying out close friends and family. The island caters solely to the guests in the fifteen beach front villas and one private bridal villa. No one who shouldn’t be there can get onto the island without being found out.

It’s not Adam throwing money around, this is all about privacy. Since announcing their engagement, the world has been trying to find out everything they can about them. Speculating when the wedding will be, where, and what kind of dress Jenna will wear.

This is about making sure their wedding happens how they want, with no interruptions and no worries. No one will ever suspect they’d plan a wedding in the middle of the tour.

“Jenna spoke to Elle yesterday, we’ve got the fishing trip booked before we head to Vietnam.”
