“He did?”
“Yeah. He asked if I would be interested in redoing his house's primary bedroom and bathroom.”
“Why?” My brows furrowed.
“Probably because it’s the only room his mom wouldn’t let me touch. It makes me wonder if he’s going to stay in Harbor Falls. Did he say anything about it last night?”
“No. He didn’t say a word. Maybe he wants it redone to sell it.”
“Ugh. I hope not. It would be too weird in this town if a Harbor weren’t living in that house. I have to run. We’ll talk later.” She hugged me.
After she left, I pulled out my phone and dialed the contractor. After speaking with him, my happiness quickly turned to disappointment. Letting out a sigh, I went to the park and sat on the bench. My phone rang, and a smile crossed my lips when I saw Alex was calling.
CHAPTER 12
Hannah
“Hello.”
“Hi. How are you today?” His low voice made my belly flutter.
“I’m okay. How are you?”
“Your reply doesn’t sound very convincing. In fact, you’re looking a little stressed sitting on that bench.”
My brows furrowed as I looked around and then saw him standing across the street, walking toward me.
“What are you doing here?” I smiled as he sat down.
“I was passing by, and when I looked across at the park, I saw you sitting here. What’s going on?”
“I met with Katherine at the shop. The plans are done, and they look amazing. I called the contractor, and he said he could meet with me in two weeks to go over everything, and they’d be able to start the remodel in two months.”
“Who did you call?” he asked.
“The only contractor in Harbor Falls.” I breathed out a laugh. “Rufus Builders.”
“Bobby Rufus?”
“Yeah. He’s the one I spoke with.”
“Give me his number.” He pulled out his phone. “Bobby, it’s Alex Harbor. I’m good. Listen. What are you guys working on that you can’t meet with Hannah James for two weeks or start the remodel on her flower shop for two months? I see. Okay, it was good talking to you, buddy. They’re working on a big project which is expected to be finished in a couple of months.” He looked at me.
“I understand. I know these things take time. I guess my expectations were too high.” I looked down.
“I have an idea. Harbor Falls needs a flower shop, and a flower shop it shall have sooner rather than later.” He winked. “Just give me a second.” He stood up and walked away.
After making a phone call, he sat down beside me.
“Tomorrow afternoon, a crew will arrive from Chicago to review the plans and start remodeling the shop,” he said.
“What? How?”
“They work for me.”
“Alex, I don’t know what?—”
“You don’t have to say anything, Hannah.” He reached over and grabbed my hand. “This is my town. If I want a flower shop here ASAP, it will happen.” A sexy smile crossed his lips.
